This is the best year to be a FA QB. I really hope the Lions avoid that potential money pit. There are many desperate teams and with the draft looking horrible for adding a Day 1 QB, the QBs are going to make a fortune, but at the cost of their new team which will likely be busting their Cap and letting some top talent go. In that regard, the Lions might be sitting in a nice spot with pretty much being handcuffed to Goff as other teams unload talent at other positions, flooding the market which will likely result in a little price break, maybe 5-10% compared to what the player might get in a more normal year.

Maybe I am wrong in thinking that way, just seems all extra cash will flow to QBs.

Lol I never said the cupboard was bare. Injuries happened. Good players didnt reproduce from past years or past teams. Mayhew was solid, Quinn average until Patricia got in his ear. Stafford had good weapons but thats it other than 2014 defense. Oline was spotty but good at times. Lomardi and Ron Prince were bad coaches but Lombardi having success with Chargers. Caldwell fixed Stafford a good bit too as Linehan just allowed turnovers

Lions gave him things but not enough

Even just a little run game, protection, Kupp and defense and he is going off and winning

Hes underperforming expectations and was ready to be run out of the city last week. Ask McVeigh if 4th in the conference is where he expected to be.

PS...Goff has a top 17 run game. Hows that helping him out?

similar run games and defense. But they have a Y4Kupp now and OBJ. So better weapons with the same result in a worse division. Proof Stafford sucks.

You should look at stats. Tell me if they're "similar".

Last year other 3 teams in their division were 26-22 .541 win %

This year other 3 teams in their division are 21-18 .538 win %

So both of the things you mentioned are just not true. SHOCKING

Stafford doing way way more with less. He is carrying the team, last year rams d and run game carried the team

They are very happy with Stafford. 2nd in league in qb rating says it all

Rather have any of our past gms over any of the bozos bashing Stafford here. At least they knew how to spot a good qb

Stafford has 33 tds and 9 ints already. He could have another 40 td year even through 16 not 17

Stafford could be mvp still

I was just stating that just saying they were also 9-4 last year so Stafford hasn't made them better is laughable based on the fact their defense has gone from 1st to 15th yet they have the same record is a division that, record wise, is nearly identical as it was last year.

I don't even like getting into Stafford debates anymore. We've had SO FUCKING MANY of them the last 12 years....I'm worn out.

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone with a football IQ that he has made them, offensively, a much better team.
