Homer to announce retirement. I have said it before but this is the right thing hes taken too many years of punishment in front of the net. For a player that was never supposed to make the NHL he had a hell of a career. I have a feeling the wings organization will find him a job somewhere.

This should be expected all season long. Groin Injuries will play a big part in this shortened season. Brutuzzi is not that big of a deal as the wings are stacked at forward. As much as i don't like the guy Kindl will play a big part this season and this injury hurts the wings big time.

Eaves is finally cleared to play. I have always liked Eaves sucks that this happened to him. Will be tough to come back after sitting out that long right away. Hope he can make it back.

Eaves fights Versteeg. This was a great fight, ignore the call by the announcers and the title of the video very even fight big punches landed by both guys. I dont think Eaves will be doing any more of this with the concussion issue but i have always liked his toughness.

Good thing we have a pile of forwards. I was never big on Sammy and if this groin injury makes hims even slower, than he will be a pylon. Injuries injuries injuries. Helm, Bert, Sammy, Kindl, Coliacovo. Please do not be sign of things to come.

Bad news: Looks like Helm is going to miss the first 3 games and will be replaced in the lineup by Emmerton, but on the 4th line. Bert is out with the flu.
Good news: Eaves is cleared to play.

Interesting that when we have all our players healthy, we will have to trade or waive either Jan Mursak or Cory Emmerton.

Tough call, Emmerton more all around, Mursak more offensively skilled. Emmerton should get a chance to make a case tomorrow. Hustle young man hustle.

Personally i dont really care for either player that much. They provide needed depth but not much more than that. I guess of the two i would rather keep Emmerton because as you stated he is a better all around player which is more useful for a depth sub. But there is some good young talent, better than both players, down in Grand Rapids so i think both players time in the origination is limited anyways.

Mike Knuble signs 25 game contract with Griffins. Don't know if he will stay for all 25 games if he plays well he could be picked up by another NHL team. But for the time being it will be cool to see him play with the Griffins.

Another good wings blog, takes some time getting used to because they use a lot of nick names a terms that wont make sense at first, but once you get them great blog with a lot of great humor with some good analysis thrown in that you wont find anywhere else. Plus the guy who writes it is a legitimate Master Chief and you cant get more bad ass than that.

Why we should and shouldn't panic. I'm more so in the not panic camp right now, just one game with a young team they need some time to gel. Problem is in the shortened season there isn't that much time to gel. Ok everybody panic.

Drew sharp calls out Brendon smith. Partly right but also feels the need to bring up the Sheahan incident when he had Smiths ID. Im pretty sure thats the reason a rookie is struggling to ajust to the NHL in his first year. (did i mention i hate drew sharp)

Red wings are basically willing to have anyone play D for them now. I think i may try out. As far as this signing, anyone who is left on the market still in a league begging for defensive help is not going to bring me much excitement.

Just what the team needed. This is the worst year as far as depth on the blue line i can remember, figures it would be the one with the most injuries.

Forward Gustav Nyquist and goaltender Tom McCollum were reassigned to Grand Rapids after the game. Nyquist had two shots on goal in 11:42. McCollum backed up Jimmy Howard for two games. Forwards Darren Helm and Todd Bertuzzi will return on Friday.

Gotta agree. Clicked on nearly every link. Had great stuff in them.

Too bad we couldn't get some of the regulars from ESPN(sucks) board here. Now there was some intelligent hockey discussion. As is usual with most of the Detroit/Michigan sports boards there, they were some of the most active. That, to me, is absolutely tragic.

Agreed. That's where i came over from. There were some good posters over there. It just got very troll heavy and it made it tiring to post anything because it would just get overwhelmed by nonsense. Something has to change thats for sure...the offense was supposed to be the strong point of this team, but it has been worse than the D (if thats possible) so far this season.

I just hope to God that the Wings get lucky and manage to grab a playoff spot. Id hate to see the playoff streak end due to their being a shortened season..
