Red Wings at Blackhawks SCSF Series Thread

Do the Wings have the desire to win this series in Chicago? Right now all the momentum is with Chicago.

Bah..but I suppose that it is a minor miracle that the Wings have taken them the distance vs the deeper and more experienced blechhawks.

I didn't expect this either, a pleasant surprise. And so far I've been wrong about everything in this series and I don't think the Wings stand a chance in Chi-town. Here's to me being wrong again.

penalty shot cost us the game...

Fix is in...is

If he had hooked him or tripped him, then I could see a penalty shot. But a slap to the arm/hand, no. But the Wings have let downs resulting in turnovers and goals that cost them. Howard has been outstanding in the net, but how many shots can he be expected to stop.

I think the hawks were off sides on goal 2 or 3... And the refs missed a high stick on Smith right before one of the goals in which Smith left his freaking man.. He was too aggressive trying to help out.. Plus the BS penalty shot... Only the Wings have this kind of luck.... Our third periods are just awful.

Smith was High stick right about 30 seconds or a minute I can't remember right before a goal.. I just don't understand a ref calling a BS penalty shot like that...it was a 1 goal game... and they give them that...I am pissed had a chance to close it out at home something we seem to be not good at..... Damn Stanley cup comes to mind

Zetts with merely 4 SOG, one being very late in the 3rd.

Dats with an assist and 6 SOG, not much of a thorn in the hawks side

Yes both Dats and Z have got to pick it up. Damn just show freaking up in the third and we maybe could have won tonight... Boy we still really miss that other kid Danny D.. Smith is improving but when he makes mistakes they are big ones normally

This team had their shot. Can they still break these idoits' hearts? Sure. But same ole breakdowns are happening that happened earlier in the season. I thought this team turned that corner.

Either way this has been a surprising ride. I had said vs Ducks that even a single game win in the playoffs this year would be a surprise and a bonus. Beating the #2 and being up 3-1 over #1 shows me this team has a bright future over the next five years. Win or lose game 7, they've impressed me a great deal.

Penalty shoot and Cringe cost us the game.... Cringe was at the game in his Red Wings gear.. Guy is still costing us games :)

Wings dominated the first and second period of Game 6, and then choked it away. The penalty shot wasn't the killer.

Smith broke off his man to chase a puck into the corner, and got lit up for it. Mistake #1. Game tied 2-2. But the lifeless play against the next goal was the real killer. The team put up no fight, and Jimmy Howard looked like he wanted a water break more than a save to put the game away at 3-2.

I thought the penalty shot was a bullshit call, but when you play like that, you deserve to lose.

Wings have beaten the Blackhawks in Chicago once this series, let's hope they find their heart again before Game 7.

When you think about it, of the Wings' 3 wins, only game 2 was a 60-minute solid clean win. Several goal posts and the disallowed goal in game 3, and they turned the puck over like mad in game 4...the difference was Howard standing on his head. Chicago's 3 wins were all Blackhawks-esque wins. Whoever wins the turnover/takeaway battle will win game 7.

Unfortunately, I don't think it will be us. They had their best shot Monday and blew it. I'm not feeling it like I did before game 7 vs. Anaheim...they had the look of a defeated team, Chicago doesn't have that look. The have the momentum, the spring in their step, and too deep of a line-up.

What sucks is that by losing we're basically handing the Cup to them. Ugh. And a Hawks/Penguins Finals will be virtually unwatchable. Between Hawk homer Olcyk and then McQuire choking on Crosby's dick the whole series...baaaarrrrrffff...

Come on boys...let's get it done. And cml, the thought of a Pens/Hawks final sickens me too...

Tonight's game will come down to intensity and leadership.

Chicago is bringing the aggressive play, and Detroit seems poised and unimpressed thus far. IF Zetterberg can keep his team calm and in control, the Wings can win a second game in the Windy City. If not, that intensity from Chicago will be too much to overcome.

Frustrating but Zetterberg and PD have to get it done in the third for us to win..
