Rice's record

In the course of my life these 5 don't even come close to frustrating.

I think it has been compounded by the higher than normal expectations I had in week 1...in 43 years I'm not sure I had too many that were higher starting a season....I guess this compares to the 1992 season

In any event, after 3 hours of watching the Lions - win or lose it has no impact on my life. If you look at the two losses early because of ST, games they were ahead with 2 minutes left and the red flag by Schwartz that gave the other team a TD - we could have 8-9 wins with a little luck. I guess I don't see it as another long stretch of losing seasons. We could win 10 next season, I could see that. We're competitive and when you're competitive you can win against anyone.

the bright side....top 10 pick in every round

back to topic of Rice's record, i think CJ needs to get close to 200 vs Cards next week to have a shot. last year he had about 100 vs Falcons, so hopefully same or better this year, but earlier in year he was held to under 50 by Bears who always seem to play him tough.

in essence, he needs to break it or be within 25 yards by the time the bears game, IMO.

If he's ANYWHERE near the record by game 16, with the way this season has gone, they'll pump him more balls than a Vivid Video movie.

What else would they have to play for. If he hasn't broken it by the Bears game he'll get a MINIMUM 20 targets that game.

i get that, but i also get that the bears typically play very tough against him and know what they want to do to prevent him getting the record against them. i know he will get targets and they could try to dink and dunk for 3 yard gains all game, but i think that might only be good for about 50 yards vs bears, not 100. 20 targets at 3 yards per only gets you to 60 yards...and that is catching every target. going downfield beyond that and the bears get even tougher against CJ.

maybe he gets 100+ vs bears, i just think they will blanket him so much and be willing to give up run yardage or pass yards to others before they give CJ a good shot at 100 yards to get the record. better to already have the record or be very close to it by then.

Johnson has 100+ receiving yards in 6 games in row and can tie NFL record of 7 this week at Arizona. CJ is avg. 151.3 yards over last 6.

I was arguing with a guy recently that said CJ is just big and fast and other receivers are just better.

Durham is big and fast. Stephen Hill is big and fast. Big and fast doesnt equal 100 + catches and 1500 + yards every year lol.

Calvin can also get the record for most receptions in Lions History in a single season.

Just think if the Lions had 2 or 3 solid receivers on the field week in and week out. AP and CJ are alike in many ways this year, it doesnt matter that teams gameplan to limit them, theyre going to get their yards, and thats that.

Its unfortunate that he's doing this on a 4 win team. If we were winning it'd be so much better.
