Comparing players across several eras is tough, but if you're going to try, ops+ is probably the best indicator. There's really not much difference between the two based on that.

IMO for Cabrera to be in the conversation, he's going to need to have a couple of 130+ RBI seasons, have a 50 homer season, win a number of pennants and a World Series, win a couple of MVPs, hit a pennant winning homer, and have over 500 homers. :)
