Rockies vs Tigers, Game thread June 16

3-2 pitch is doubled off the wall in right. Kelly throws it to 2nd and it gets away...runner goes to 3rd.

Cruddeyer grounds out but ruins the shut out bid. 4-1.

Roid boy K's on some high heat.

Helton K's.

Tigers win! 3.5 back of the Sox...Sox yet to play. Cleveland down 3 runs in the 9th.

I wonder who will play when a RHP is throwing...Wil it be Kelly or Berry? I would still like to see Berry get a start on sunday verses the Lefty.

6 batters? Up 4 runs? Sure he didn't care too much.

good managers should always care about things like that never know if 4 will be enough or not with the way this year has been going and after last nights 8 run rocky shelling.. He shoulda waited till the 9th to bring in Kelly IMO.

Tomorrow it is Max vs. Guthrie to try and get our 3rd Inter-league series win in a row. Guthrie has a 6.91 era.

Yup... i agree not a blow out like we would like but a easy game for a change...

right guys....I would be happy with 55 to 60 more wins like this for the year,

things are very tough with all the injuries, and bringing up players that really don't belong and aren't ready for situations they have been put in,
Like to get back Avila, Dotel, and Dirks, stay healthy and move on from that.

eh. that's why you aren't manager. put better defenders in for TWO innings beats out the possibility of your 6th hitter making it up to bat.....and in most cases, if your 6th hitter makes it up to bat, you possibly might have scored a run or two (we didn't but oh well).

We won.

Thankfully he didn't bring papa lolipop back out today to redem yesterday that was a wise decision, he does occsionally do something right to go along with all those boneheaded things. LOL

lollipos give up 4 runs since May 4th. Had he been able to make a good throw to first base, he may have easily gotten out of the inning. I'm not mad at either. It happens...your closer isn't going to ALWAYS shut the other team down.

With the victory, Leyland tied another former Tiger manager on MLB's all-time managerial wins list. He's at 1619, knotted at 15th overall with The Major, Ralph Houk. Lou Pinella is next on the list with 1835, well within range of the Marlboro Man.

According to Smokes, Raburn WILL NOT be an everyday player. I expect Berry in there against righties.

Raburn looks like a trainwreck against righties.

Last two years with the Tigers Jose has not done very well in non-save situations. We all know JV was the one that threw the ball away but who put him on the mound knowing the data? We also may have won if a different pitcher had started the inning also.. The facts are pretty clear.. Right now JV is terrible in Non save situations. It sucks but what are you going to do.. Maybe do your best and not use him when these crop up if at all possible..
