Romney Will Vote to Convict and Remove President Trump

If only protecting the environment was a very profitable thing for corporations, I could sleep well knowing Trump would be working his ass off in favor of it.

It could be if we weren?t so stupid and stubborn about nuclear power not to mention if we were able to concentrate on the real problems instead of the man made climate change boogie man.

Well, at least we're on the same page for some stuff.

In theory... sure.

but yikes, that list of nuclear incidents on wikipedia - both the civilian and military ones - is horrifying. a couple of those go a different way, and the cost to society is crippling.

maybe if we could genetically engineer a superior species to ourselves, one that could figure out how to manage and run things without letting Donald Trump 'I get to be the boss cause I called it' types insert themselves into the process, more widespread nuclear power would be a better idea. Maybe if you banned anyone with an MBA from positions of management or authority and left it to actual engineers & physicists...

I'm of the opinion mankind needs more basic tools, we can't do as much harm with. We were never meant to have post-1850 era technology. We're too stupid. or there are too many stupid people among us.

I think nuclear should be an important part of our future. Wind, I see as an also ran. Solar maybe a bit more potential. But nuclear seems like a more straightforward way to replacing all the fossil fuel we use on the scale of how long it will take to switch to electric vehicles.

And I think it's actually safer even if you consider the history, which is dominated by reactors designed in the 1960s. Even then, if you do some sort of comparison of casualties per unit of power, I think it beats fossil fuels if you include drilling and mining and transporting. Sort of like how air travel is more safe than cars, but individual accidents are more catastrophic. I'm not sure, that statistic might be including air pollution, which half the nation doesn't believe in because you have to use statistics and models to estimate its effect.

I mean, would you believe in something you can't see, that some smartass lib college professor is talking about? you gotta be nuts to believe in something like that.

there may be more casualties per unit but if a gas turbine blows up it doesn't render the land useless for hundreds of years like old nuclear technology.

The future (for now) is not solar and I don't think it will ever be wind. Both have the NIMBY problem, not to mention they piss off the Audubon and PETA people with all the birds they're shredding or combusting. Right now, if we could wrest control of the conversation away from all the man made climate change catastrophe former bartenders and hippies turned bureaucrats, it seems like small modular reactors are the way to go. Simpler, safer, smaller, environmentally friendly reactors that produce clean energy using materials that can't be weaponized. They would be manufactured in a plant, delivered to a site on a truck and installed with minimal onsite construction, they have much better containment ability and the waste is easier and safer to deal with.

Yeah! It's those hippies with their tens of millions of dollars again!

I don?t really like birds.

Birds and squirrels.

They both kind of freak me out.

I still don?t like.

I guess I like to eat them.

Wasn?t there some discussion some years ago about synthetic dinosaur meat?

I think there was. Such a good idea. Go to a state fair and get yourself a hunk of deep fried cloned t-rex on a stick.

For some reason, I feel like a read that some scientist said his best guess at what Dino-meat (TM, get Jimmy Walker's agent on the phone) would taste like would be a darker than dark meat version of poultry.

oooh, zinger. Maybe big shot scientists like you only work on 8 and 9 figure grant proposals - you probably laugh at those losers in the coffee room that rake in anything less than $50mm to waste on their bullshit models pumping out predictions at a 0.000000% success rate.

and you're wrong, it's not just the dirty, smelly hippies like Bernie Sanders, it's also the former bartenders and what they're going after is many, many times bigger than even your research budgets. They want to use that junk science to transform our economy and the way we live to the tune of trillions of dollars - a figure that even you should be impressed by - again, based on models with a 0.000000% accuracy rate.

I'm pointing at the balance between bartender and hippie dollars vs fossil fuel company budgets? You've got an 800 lb gorilla that wants to go right and a 98 lb hippie that wants to go left and you're complaining about the pull of the hippie while at the same time making fun of him.

Who said you were doing that?

And you have it wrong, yes the gov't funds a lot of the universities and others that produce the garbage. But it?s not the research budget I?m talking about, which should be obvious but I?ll explain it for you. See, the dirty smelly hippie and the bartender want to be the gorilla. They want control of the government to get their green new deal. Then their budget will be a larger piece of the US economy than all of the energy industry combined and it will have the power of the government gun to coerce compliance. And yeah, I'm making fun of them because they are idiots and their green new deal will destroy this country's economy.

and the relative size of research budgets for academics isn't the issue. The point I was making there is, you have to be a climate alarmist to get any piece of that pie, whatever the size of that pie is. And what difference does the relative size make if we let these chicken little fools get control of the purse using the junk science funded with less money than the energy industry throws at their agenda? David vs. Goliath isn't always a universal concept, sometimes the little guy can also be bad and sometimes when the little guy becomes the big guy, he turns out to be even worse.

Jesus, the RNC chairman just publicly said Mitt Romney was not only disinvited from CPAC, but shouldn't come anyway because they couldn't "guarantee his safety" (link).

I mean, it was ONE THING when they threaten to kill Obama, Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, etc. etc. carry assault rifles around and pretend to be soldiers... but now they even threaten to murder their own over minor dissent in the ranks.

Or maybe this is harmless pro-wrestling type shit Trump has brought over into American politics... like he's hoping Romney does show up so Vince McMahon can sneak up and hit him with a folding chair, and then Trump will shave his head while he's unconscious.

That kind of thing would be very relatable for adults who watch pro-wrestling.

Has it been discussed why Susan Collins isn't facing similar scrutiny? Is it because her 'role' is to be the Maverick and Romney didn't follow orders?
