Ronald Reagan

Now in fairness, byco, they never talk about the out of control spending by the Bush Administration on Fox News.

And CNN doesn't talk about the military body count anymore either. News is so objective these days. I believe everything everyone says all the time. On every station. It's easier that way.

tsmith7559:cutting the marginal tax rates was the spark for the economic prosperity we had for over 20 years

me:then how do you explain more recent history?

tsmith:you mean when the revenues rose under GW Bush after they were cut????

me:Just so this doesn't get funny, which revenue are you talking about?

tsmith:revenues to the US Treasury

So tax revenue = economic prosperity and apparently it's been increasing with our lower marginal rates. That's funny. But not like a clown.

I cant speak for the current administrations policies...but facts are facts, revenue to the US Treasury went up $850B over the 4 yr period the Republicans controlled the both the senate and house(ie, 2003-07)...

reducing tax rates spurs economic prosperity and in turn that prosperity is taxed...pretty simple, its happened numerous times throughout history

Recent history ended in 2007 or did the tax rates go back up?

we lent money to people who couldnt pay it back, unfortunetly it has consequences......currently no confidence in Obama, his regulations and other factors explain his failure.....solution....lower taxes, not raise thme.

So you still question my statement under Bush???? or you concede?

Arguably, it was that very lending money to people who couldn't pay it back - which happened under Bush and the Republicans - that had an initial stimulative effect on the economy - until the bills came due, and the economy collapsed under its weight.

the community reinvestment act started before Bush...Fannie & Freddie has been controlled by Dems and Bush tried numerous times to regulate them with Barney Frank & Chris Dodd resisting...Remember Barney saying there was nothing wrong with Fannie?? LOL

Additionally, the top marginal tax rate was raised by both Presidents George H.W. Bush and President Clinton - low and behold, there was economic prosperity and balanced during the Clinton years - so how does one account for that?

Yes.

Frank was as big of an asshole as the Republican chairs of that committee who had preceeded him in the first six years of the Bush Administration - their names are Leach and Oxley, one was from Iowa and the other Ohio.

Fannie and Freddie wern't controlled by Democrats under Bush - I posted a clip of Bush saying he was going to do with Fannie and Freddie exactly what you claimed the Democrats had done, a clip from 2002.

Not surprised you didn't look at it.

were were in a mild recession by George HW Bush last year....I guess that explains it.

Or could have been part of this thing in capitalism known as the business cycle.

How do you explain the economic expansion under Clinton, after yet a second raise in the top marginal rate?

NEWT GINGRICH and the republican congress.....controlled spending
biggest reason was the tech bubble....once that burst, everything came down in 2001, then 911 was another trillion dollar hit

History says, lower taxes raise revenues...early 1920's, early 1960's, early 1980's, early2000's....
