is scheduled to visit in the next day or two. I would do everything I could to sign him. He would basically upgrade 2 spots and then allows us to use our first on another position.

Russell Okung is barely better than Reiff is. I'd sign him, but only to a very team friendly deal. There will be a T available at #16 that is better than Okung is.

Barely better than Reiff? Wasn't he an all pro last year? The guy is always hurt, but when they're both healthy, Okung is obviously the better.

All Pro...I dont think so. He did make the Pro Bowl a few years back though

No Momster he has one Pro Bowl to his name. 2012 was his best year. I do think he is a much better LT than Rieff but he's probably got as much name prestige as quality play.

He's a better LT than Rieff when he's on the field, but that is not often enough to make a big offer to.

I said Okung is better.

Average starter - good. Like I said....barely better than Reiff. He'd be a slight upgrade but why sign a guy who is likely to demand $8M-$10M a year when we can draft a player like Conklin who has a higher ceiling at $4M/year??

Is he better though? How? This guy made the Pro Bowl FOUR years ago..lol. His whole career has been injury riddled. I'd rather draft someone in the 1st or 2nd then dump a ton of money on this guy. If he comes cheap...ok. If not, let the fkn Giants blow their wad on him.

Dead on, Tony.

Reiff was abismal in pass protection last year. Abismal. His own coaches won't commit to him playing LT next year. If we are all asking for a round 1 tackle is that proof enough (booger)? Do we want to get stuck with another middling talent at LT picking at 16? A Godser Cherlius. No one is questioning Okung as a left tackle in this league. His durability sure, his contract size, yes. But the guy is a far better option when healthy that Rieff or an unproven rookie.

My bad. I wrote it backwards.

Upgrading LT is a given......nobody said anything about Reiff being good. It's clearly a need. But why in the world would you want to sign an above average to good LT with a growing injury history to a contract when he's hit his ceiling already.... it's not that high....and he's going to demand $8-$10m per when you can draft a guy at #16 who could be instantly as good as Okung currently is.....has little to no injury history and is 1/2 the price????

Also......how is the #16 overall pick a middling talent????

I never argued that. I don't think anybody did. I said that when healthy, Okung was better. I didn't advocate signing him or throwing huge money. I only argued that when both players are healthy, Okung is clearly better.

You are going to have to ask Bob Quinn that directly. It's clear that him and I agree that this is an avenue that needs to be explored.

I don't think the gap is that wide. But I do agree he is better. I'd still rather have Conklin or Decker at 1/2 the price, though.

I'd tell anyone, including Quinn, that I think it's a bad idea unless Okung would take 4 years/ $16M.

I'd be ok with paying Okung that.......but little more.

And again, how is the #16 pick a middling talent?

Yeah you tell him booger. His number is 1-800-WAT-DFUQ.

Pick #16? Are willing to bet Stafford's blindside on that when a solid veteran is a possibility? Was Tomlinson's first year a great success? Rieff played FB his first year. Gamble like that with Stafford and he ded.

Exactly this. How many can't miss tackles and guards go in the first round that end up totally stinking up the joint? A LOT. I don't mind signing Okung if the money is right and everyone should already know we have to over pay to get guys to come here IT'S DETROIT PEOPLE WE SUCK.

So your basing it on the draft position not the player?? That's super smart. Andrew Whitworth was the 55th pick. 1st team all pro in 2015. How do you explain that? I mean, my god, if 16th is middling......what is 55th??
