He has looked pretty good the last several outings. I think he has a chance to even be considered for a closer at some point down the line or at least a set up guy. That Curtis trade was really pretty good for all 3 teams. I doubt anyone of them is complaining at this point. They're all in 1st place.

im still very skeptical about his current success. i dont think he can continue to pitch nearly completely off his curveball and have success because he cant control it very well. if people just lay off it some more, his walks will go through the roof. the problem is, he cant really pitch off his fastball for the same reason.

IDK...There's something about this guy. At times he looks lites out, usually when the team is up by 6 runs. He's a guy to keep an eye on in any event IMO.

Schlereth's last 9 appearances have been fine. His walks per 9 are still high about 5.5 per 9 innings. strikeouts at 7.5/7.6 per 9 innings.
Does it have something to do with a pitcher/player being young(er) and less a track record that makes some of us queasy and worry when they come into a close game?
Anyways, since Aug. 15 his last poor relief job, he has brought the ERA down about a half run.

I'd love to see him and Perry gone. I've got zero confidence in either of them.
No! Perry doesn't have it. He's been given ample opps to get it done. I wouldn't toss him to the curb just yet but he's running out of time.

Cliff Lee sucked ass for 5 full seasons, and Cleveland cut him from the roster in 2008, until he came up as injury replacement.

Guess what happened after that?

Ryan Perry is running out of time?

He's 24, and spent less then 2 full season in the Majors, he has plenty of time, especially with the kind of arm he has.

Setup man is the best I think Schlereth will get up to. I think Al Al will be closer if and when Valverde leaves (not sure how long he's locked up for.) He for sure has closers stuff. If Perry ever CAN harness his control I think it is feasible for it to one day be some sort of configuration with Perry and Schlereth in the 7th and 8th depending on the opposing line-up...and Al Al closing...

Oh they make you a mod and now you know everything. Hokay.

And what do you know jackle? He's done nothing until recently and suddenly he's the closer of the future. Lol.

For every Cliff Lee there are 1000 Matt Andersons. I'm not saying that Perry is done, but I am not excited about him. Relief pitchers are a dime a dozen anyway. How many of these guys were in our bullpen five years ago? 100% turnover, so why worry about what some guy that pitches one inning in middle relief might become?

Schlereth has a lot of ability and I think he is on his way for a solid MLB career. He does have or had control issues but may turned the corner since working with Jones. I have noticed Perry has seemed to respond to Jones as well. I think the other guy had quite a few guys messed up and the reason for his firing. Notice how none of the pitchers complained?

In Detroit, he's running outta time.

It could happen at some point. It's just my opinion. I could be wrong. I don't think you should be a mod on this board. You are kind of thick between the ears. You post alot but you really don't that much about baseball.
