East - I'll be shocked if it's not Duke vs MSU in the Elite 8. This bracket is garbage other than them. Turgeon never gets Maryland past the Sweet 16. LSU lost their head coach and everyone on their team has to be aware that every game they are playing will be vacated. Louisville could give MSU a run for their money in the 2nd round, but I think MSU wins that. I give the edge to Duke over MSU because of Zion.
West - Hoping Matthews is back to 100%. He was playing well before the injury. He had games of 11, 18, 24, 14, and 9 before the MSU injury game. I'll take the version of Charles Matthews averaging 15 per game any day. I think this region comes down to us, Gonzaga, FSU, and Texas Tech. Get ready for an ugly, low scoring game if we play Tech. I know Nevada is talented, but I just can't trust a team that didn't play a single good team all season. What was their best win? ASU who got an undeserved play-in game for the tourney.
South - I hate this region. The top half has some of the slowest tempo teams in the country. Virginia, Wisconsin, K-State, and Oregon play at a snail's tempo. I wouldn't even be surprised to see Wisconsin in the Elite 8 after they beat Virginia by something like 48-44. I guess I'm picking Tennessee to come out, but Rick Barnes inspires zero confidence. Hell, if Iowa has two hot shooting games in a row they could be Sweet 16 bound. This is just a crapshoot of a bracket and I expect to see a lot of red marks on my bracket when it's done. I'm going UVA vs Tennessee for the Elite 8 and sending Tennessee to the Final Four. I hate it.
Midwest - UNC is the favorite and I don't like them either. I think they are good enough to win this region, I just don't like their general existence. Wofford is a great shooting team, so they could be an interesting match up with UK. I think we may see an upset there and then Iowa State in the Elite 8 against UNC. I don't think Auburn is good enough to stop UNC from making the Elite 8 and Kansas for damn sure isn't.
Final Four - Duke, Michigan, Tennessee, UNC.
Championship - Michigan over UNC. Homer! Go Blue!
