Should Chip Kelly go all in

To get Mariota? I've heard it suggested he use all the picks to go get the one QB able to run his O.

They have a good team outside of QB so I could see it as plausible.

Foles was pretty damn good in 2013. Already looking for a QB after Foles 8 games? That's pretty funny, why we wait on Matt 6 years.

Chip needs a QB who can really run his offense like no other. That QB is Mariota. I'm just not sure Chip will go all in to get him, but I wouldn't be surprised by it if he did. Hell, I'd understand including Foles or Sanchez in the trade in order to get him. No other QB would get that offense to reach max potential, IMO, and no other team has the offensive scheme that would max Mariota's potential. It's THE perfect fit, just not sure it will happen.

I'm not sure you're trolling or what but Mariota blows..

LOL...speaking of trolling...

He is a guy who needs a specific system to maximize his talent. Chip runs as close to that type of system as there is in the NFL. Putting Mariota in a pocket passing offense would make it appear he blows, sure. So he could fail really bad at the NFL level. But put him in Chip's offense, he has a much better chance of being successful.

I'm not sure Philly has the picks to move up that far. Both of the teams with the top 2 picks have huge needs at QB to begin with. Philly has the 20th pick this year, and has little reason to get worse in the next two. Keep in mind that when the Redskins made that trade, they had the 6th pick as their starter. Even if Philly made an equally enormous trade, they just don't have the same caliber picks as the Redskins did and lucked out with St. Louis already having invested in a QB.

Also, I don't see why anyone should think Mariota sucks. For one, teams in the NFL already use more spread offense than ever before. Mariota is an accurate passer. He hasn't been asked to make a lot of traditional NFL throws, but any coach with half a brain work their system to the strengths of the roster. Any team drafting Mariota will try to give him the best chance to succeed, otherwise why draft him? Drafting Mariota to be Peyton Manning would be like the Lions deciding to become a run-first offense next year without any changes to the RBs or O-line.

Hater...The only thing that "blows" was the lead that MSU held for a quarter against Oregon until Mariota decided to take over. MSU fans saw first hand what Mariota is capable of.

Mariota will be the best QB in this draft class and better then all QB's in last years draft class. The man straight up balls out. He's a Colin Kaepernick with accuracy.

Go Ducks!

Well if Philly included Foles in the trade in order to provide the trading partner a legit QB, they could pull of the trade and maybe even keep a couple picks. Of course, it might be more worthwhile seeing if that team would take Sanchez instead of Foles, but let's face it, Foles will not want to be a backup and no one really wants Sanchez.

Well I honestly don't know if he'll be good or not. But Philly needs more things than a QB. I'd stick with Foles and use the draft for actual needs..

What about that guy who did the dog fighting thing? Isn't he the Philadelphia quarterback, and doesn't he fit into Chip Kelly's system?

I really dislike the Eagles. They seem to have this "we're better than anyone else" attitude, even while missing the playoffs so fucking always.

I hope they do go all in. Trade your entire draft for a QB. Please.

One game away from winning their division. A QB who better fits the system would fix many of the problems they had this year. Sure he'd be a rookie and chances would be they would need to give him 2-3 years, but Mariota is one of those kids who could come in and be an instant success. To run that Oregon offense, he has to be very quick thinking which is something that can't be taught easily.

He is a positive role model type so I hope he is able to at least perform better than Winston, but I think Philly is the only team that can provide that opportunity for him next year.

If you are Tampa, I also think you would prefer having a relatively proven pocket passer in Foles than an unproven rookie. Granted there is the advantage of the rookie contract, but Foles can play well and Tampa has cap room. Get a few more picks to fill more holes and Tampa gets the opportunity to have a faster changeover.

It just makes sense to me, but what do I know.

The main concern I'd have for Chip bringing in Mariota is how would all the vets on the team feel about Chip brining in duck after duck? At some point you'd think it would start rubbing players the wrong way.

The day management starts letting the players dictate personnel decisions the team has far bigger problems than who is under center for them.

If Kelly really feels Mariota is the only guy that can win them titles, you go get him. However, if Kelly really feels that, you have bigger problems than letting the players dictate personnel decisions too.

Seriously though, you're talking about a guy that left Oregon for the NFL, and in his first draft passed on his own defensive superstar in Dion Jordan to draft Lane Johnson. I don't think too many people can say he's just trying to draft Ducks.

He's drafting the guys he thinks will make his team better.

I think we should hold back a little bit on the Foles claims. Foles was good last year, but was equally bad this year. The whole offense was a lot better last year, in fact. McCoy averaged almost a full yard per carry more last year. Foles doesn't exactly have a long history of success himself. The most likely scenario is that he falls in the middle of the QB pack like so many others. Philly would have been much better with an upgraded QB, and other teams have to be considerably leery of Foles after his lackluster half season this year. It's certainly possible that teams have simply adjusted to his tendencies and he can't just get away with the newness of Kelly's offense.

I don't see a team considering Foles as valuable as a first round pick at this point. So even if Philly throws him into a trade, it's questionable that either team at the top would consider him a long-term solution.

Chip didn't pass on Dion Jordan...Mia moved up one spot in front of Chip in fear he was going to take him.

Dion Jordan went #3
Lance Johnson went #4
Ziggy went #5

At the end of the day the NFL is a job. Put yourself in the players shoes. If your job brought in a new GM and he started replacing your co-workers with people he previously worked with because they fit his "system", how'd you feel? The players on the Eagles may not speak up but I'd be damned if not one felt shady(pun intended).

I'm a Chip guy, I'm a Mariota guy, I'm from Oregon, I want both to succeed. If it happens together, great! I'd just be a little worried on how the vets would feel.

Mariota will be an NFL bust.

Using the Spartan game as an example is laughable. He was throwing to uncovered receivers for most of the 2nd half. That doesn't make him great, it just means MSU played a horrible half of football.

MSU was in control of that game for 40 minutes.

Mariota has a niche, no doubt.....but will fail in every pro style system he is put in.

He's Robert Griffin without the open field ability.
