He got Falconed at UM but we could use another OL in this class, there's still alaric jackson out there and we have a Purdue commit visiting this weekend looking to possibly flip. UM dropped him like a bad habit because they had a chance at someone better but he's a 4 star with offers from Bama, OSU, and ND. OSU and ND already told him they would want him but they're full at OL.

I think it's worth a look if he's interested.

yes, you should look at Erik Swenson; he fits the typical MSU student profile: drama queen, lazy work ethic, Michigan REJECT, etc.

I don't care who Dantonio gets. He and his staff have prove to be able to develop talent unlike most other schools. Recruiting classes mean very little unless you're Alabama or Ohio State.

You don't really believe that, do you? Come on, it's win at all costs, who cares who you screw over.

Michigan fans are so desperate for a championship team that they'll accept practices that they would crucify SEC teams or OSU for. good article for you

ROFLMAO, your asshat coach is inviting professional wrestler Ric Flair to take part in your signing day. It's a total clown show over there 24/7 right now.

Zero dignity, all flash, that's the Michigan Difference.

The Bud Elliott quote in that article is spot on. I don't have a problem trying to flip other commits to your school. Even pulling a scholarship several months in advance is ok with me too, this one is just wrong though.

I don't have a problem with flipping, the interest is always mutual. Kids commit too early now anyway, it will happen more and more. I do think you should drop a kid unless there are extreme circumstances, coaching change, behavior issues, not qualifying due to grades, etc.

I disagree with that articles premise which is that because Urban and Harbaugh are scum bags, the rest of the Big Ten is. It's only two coaches doing these things, and Even Urban has rarely done them, Harbaugh has lowered the bar considerably for the rest of college football.

That's not true - Meyer is a total scumbag and the first thing he did his first year was steal a bunch of recruits. My friend and coworker's brother is senior member of the buckeye coaching staff and he says Meyer is a bad guy and worries about the reputational fallout for himself from what he does. I'd be surprised if there was a worse violator in the B1G than Meyer - he was one of the worst in the SEC.

Notice one highly successful big ten coach was not mentioned in that article?

A lot of kids did flip in Meyer's first year but most of those kids were waiting to see who the head coach was before committing. Sevon Pittman was the prize of that recruiting class for us but he was picking MD and MSU over Luke Fickell and OSU, once he found out Meyer was going there he was ready to be flipped. A lot of other kids chose other schools based on the uncertainty at OSU, once that was cleared up the kids changed their minds.

That's nothing compared to taking a ton of recruits and then cutting them when someone better comes along. He also hasn't hired any parents or coaches of potential recruits. These tactics aren't illegal but they are certainly unethical. Harbaugh is diving feet first into waters Hoke wouldn't dip his toe in.

Sigh. If there's one thing I go out of my way not to follow throughout the sports year, it's the college football recruiting circus.

Yes, a lot of kids flipped in Meyer's first year and several have been flipped since then. here's an article that details his shenanigans in his first 3 years. It was written before 2015 so it's missing the last year - do you really think he had nothing to do with Gavin Cupp switching?

Meyer is a scumbag of the highest order - at Florida he had way more Hernandez than Tebow types and his recruiting tactics were shady at best. He's doing all the same crap at OSU and he's the guy who broke down the barrier for other B1G coaches - maybe they don't over-offer and pull offers but everyone is trying to flip commits now in order to stay competitive. I know most people here want to believe the worst about michigan but I don't think Harbaugh will ever be in the same league as Meyer.

I think most of you guys - like us - like to keep the in state rivalry vocal and exciting but fraternal - like it is.

Johnny one nut is the standout against that, and sbee keeps his jibes actually kind of back handed, like he thinks he's more clever than he really is.

If you guys get Swensen I hope he does good - what the hell, right?

They're kids; God love 'em all.

Cupp wanted to be a buckeye all along, I think he committed to MSU because he was tired of waiting for an OSU offer. He decided to go work out for OSU coaches without telling the MSU staff in hopes of earning an offer. I don't fault Meyer for that at all.

I don't think anyone considers my back handed compliments to actually be compliments.

It looks like there is not interest between Swenson and MSU, which is fine. I posted this before we took Luke Campbell (no relation )

as for the practice of pulling offers from kids, you make a good point, they're kids. There's no way that a 17 or 18 year old going through his first and only recruitment should be held to the same standard as a 50 year old coach who's been through hundreds. They're kids for God's sake.

I didn't use the word "compliments" when referring to your back handed jibes in the quote that you quoted at all.

I hope Swensen does great at Iowa State.

I got nothing but good feelings for the kid.

I hope whomever replaces him in this year's Michigan recruitment class does even better.

I hope whomever MSU takes - since obviously they, too, as you say, are passing on Swensen - does even better than Swensen - and again, I hope Swensen does great.

So Cupp recruited himself to OSU, got it.
