If the team was particularly smart, they would sign him to a new contract now. They could front-loaded the contract for 2016 ( we have free cap space, and any bump from his rookie contract can pay forward) and make the overlap years (with Ansah) a lot easier.
front loading a contract aren't the best idea when there are non-guaranteed contracts. First, if he sucks then you give him all of that money up front (guaranteed money + his bonus) puts all of the risk on the team. Secondly, when these guys get paid up front and in 3 years see they are the 25th highest paid player at their position they want to re-negotiate. They look at what they are making that year...not what they already got paid.
In the NFL...best to give a huge contract that isn't guaranteed. This feeds the ego of the player & the agent looks good but if they don't play well you can cut them.
