I have a fear if I read a lot of books I'm going to wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, transforming. Kind of like a werewolf, but a nerd instead.

I've told you guys before, Bill Martin is a socially-awkward, REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER (not 'bean counter') who isn't very personable. He'd been involved in Olympics prior to UM's AD job, but he was a facilities guy, not a personnel guy. To that end, his legacy is intact ....M Stadium renovations, the beginning of Crisler's and the wrestling/volleyball arena. As for Ferentz, it was said at the time he and Mary Sue Coleman were (are) friends and that any discussion of his coming to UM were kept at that level and he wanted to stay in Iowa City (which clearly he is).

I thought I read that he was formerly an accountant.

Yeah. I just read that. See in that wiki that he, also, has an economics graduate degree.

Like I said, he was hired to balance the books and in that wiki entry, you clearly see that he succeeded in that department.
