So, how the hell do we stop Haas?

I know it's really weird to say, but Haas can be a detriment for a team that has aspirations to go far. Even though he was pretty damn productive early, you can tell it just puts the entire team out of sorts. They end up standing around for minutes at a time watching him plod around. And when they are asked to do stuff, they aren't ready.

Also, he's just so slow to defend. He can't cover a guy like Wagner.

He's definitely not slow but they(UM) made him move outside the paint to cover Wagner(the 1st half of the 2nd). Tired him out pretty good too, with Teske. Beilein had a great gameplan. Awesome stuff

Not every team can do to him what Michigan did. It helps having Wagner who can hit it from anywhere on the floor. I give Teske so much credit for the win. We needed him to step up and he really did that and more. He made Purdue pay attention to him which opened up driving lanes. It was just a great game plan with perfect execution. We had also played one extra game and it looked like Purdue was the one with tired legs.

What I mean is that he's just a very slow defender. He can't close out on anyone because he's so flipping big. So when he gets pulled away from the rim, he's screwed.

Poole bodied him up for a rebound, refs called a bad foul on Poole for just a clean body up and rebound, Haas landed on his back after getting roughed up by Poole, dude at 6'4 185 pounds of him, and that was all that Haas had...

Yeah.

It was a center of gravity thing.

I didn't see it as a foul either.

Two guys going for the board; guy with the lower center of gravity is in the power position in a collision.

When you watch Teske on offense he is always working away from the ball to set picks or screens or just interference to enable guys to drive or at least get good looks.

hey we won and Duncan Robinson only had 6 points. what was that stat? something like we were 0-7 when he scored under 9 pts?

Teske picked up the slack. DR had a good game tho.

Teske is sneaky good at doing that. He has cleared a path for Matthews a ton this year with that move.

No its 6+ points not 9.

Jb mentioned Teske . He said Teske like all the kids he has worked his but off in practice . Remember a lot of these guys are the man in high school . I am sure he was a double/double waiting to happen in high school. Now that Wagner probably will go pro Teske will probably start next year. He moves pretty decent for a big guy on offense and defense. He sets great picks . He is rolling better to the basket, and holy shit he had 2 dunks yesterday lol..

I have always wondered if those seal off picks are legal? Because he is so freaking big. Like you said Mathews and others have had a lot of room to get to the rim no because of these picks.

Yeah, they absolutely are. It's a pick. You can be anywhere on the court stationary to wall off a defender or would-be defender. If he's moving, that's illegal.

He's done a really good job of picking a spot that Matthews will go to and turning his body into the player and standing here. He's not moving, it's a regular pick.

Yeah, that monster dunk where he flew through the air was something else. Wagner said he has no idea where that came from, he's never seen Teske do that. LOL

Michigan didn't even have to stop Haas in the last part of the game. Painter did that for them. Haas went out with about 6:30 in the game and sat for like 4 minutes. By the time he came back, the game was all but over. I thought that was really stupid. Why sit your best player at that point in the game?

Izzo did it to his team, too. There was Ward and Langford, lounging on the bench at the end of the game. Blew my mind.

Yeah, Coach B does that sometimes that with Wagner and subs in general. I am always of the mindset that if there's like 8 minutes left in a game and your dude has 3 fouls, let him go until he can't go anymore. You just have no way of knowing how much time you can get out of him.

Yeah, the announcers mentioned that Haas was tired, but come on, there was like 6 minutes left and then no game for 10 days. Dig in and find some energy

JB sat Abdur-Rahkman at about the same time, but he brought him back after approximately 1 minute, I think. Big difference, though, since MIchigan was winning by 16 points.

He pulled him at like the 16 minute mark in the 1st half. I didn't understand that move at all. He really seems to like that Haarns kid, but he's way out of control and doesn't have near the post game.

Nope, Haarms or whatever his name, is a big step down from Haas

Teske played great yesterday and he wasn't really a step down from Wagner. They both bring different styles and both were very effective.

And whats funny is Haarms was just as ineffective as Swanigan(Wagner dominated him) was against us last year. I couldnt wait for Haas to go back to the bench and Swanigan to go back in cuz Haas was killing us last year. And then, like you said, Painter takes him out. I was like, WTF? yes sit him. Lol I have no idea what he was thinking there. Im more than fine with it, though.
