anybody following this? this story is insane.

they published his manifesto. I don't know if he sounds crazy, exactly. What's scary is he sounds like he knows perfectly well what he's doing. Does make you wonder if his complaints were legit.

the LAPD is clearly freaked out:
At one point, officers guarding one location mistakenly opened fire on a pickup truck, believing it matched the description of Dorner's dark-colored 2005 Nissan Titan. Two occupants were injured.
nice police work, Lou...

more:
The search for Dorner, who was fired from the LAPD in 2008 for making false statements, began after he was linked to a weekend killing in which one of the victims was the daughter of a former police captain who had represented him during his disciplinary hearing.

...

Dorner was with the LAPD from 2005 until 2008.

According to documents from a court of appeals hearing, Dorner was fired from the LAPD after he made a complaint against his field training officer, Sgt. Teresa Evans. Dorner said that in the course of an arrest, Evans kicked suspect Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia.

Richard Gettler, the schizophrenic man's father, gave testimony that supported Dorner's claim. After his son was returned home on July 28, 2007, Richard Gettler asked "if he had been in a fight because his face was puffy" and his son responded that he was kicked twice in the chest by a police officer.
Fired in 2008. Assumed the appeals took another 2 years... he's still been stewing on this for quite a while. yikes.

obviously they fucked with the wrong brother....he's been planning it for 2 or 3 years , they had the Police Chief on ANderson Cooper that canned him and showed him the coin this Dorner guy sent Cooper with 3 nicely placed bullet holes in it that this CHief used to give LAPD Officers.....dude looked a little uneasy.

still don't think any human being could get very far with the sheer number of people involved in searching for him.

unless he is Rambo...

Apparently he has ties to San Diego and found his vehicle abandoned up in Big Bear. Everyone involved in losing his job has been a target....lawyers family, cops that gave testimonies, police chiefs family. Shit is crazy...apparently hes still just a little bit bitter about getting fired.....

cops are just fucking dumb sometimes. we give these retards guns, and basically a license to kill, and they run with it.

check out the pic here. they get a report that the suspect is in a gray Nissan Titan... so they riddle a blue Toyota pickup carrying two Mexican women with bullets.
In their pursuit of Dorner, at least seven police officers opened fire on what turned out to be a mother and daughter delivering newspapers down a quiet residential street, law enforcement sources told The Times.

"How do you mistake two Hispanic women, one who is 71, for a large black male?" said Richard Goo, 62, who counted five bullet holes in the entryway to his house.

...

Kathy Merkosky, 53, was outside her stucco home pointing out the six bullet holes in the bumper and grill of her silver Acura MD-X. She knew her truck was damaged when she spotted it on television and "saw fluid flowing into the street."

Her Ford Focus was hit as well — a bullet shattered the windshield and another flattened a front tire.

Well fuck me with a hard wood spoon.

Was having a light sleep (after driving across the country) and after a huge boxing workout....and the ex wife calls the current wife, and reports Dornen is at the corner of Corbin and and Nordhoff.

I guess I'd better go out and get him.

Seems no one else has been able to so far.

$1 million reward for info that leads to his arrest now lol. Good luck! Let me know if he makes it down to San Diego.

from what I've read, it appears he did get screwed by the review board.

on one side, he testified his partner kicked a handcuffed mentally ill man in the face while he was on the ground. The man testified he was battered by a woman of her description. The man's father stated he came home with a swollen face, consistent with Dorner's testimony...

yet the review board concludes without question that he fabricated the story out of whole cloth and terminates him. at the very least, the evidence weighs in his favor; at worst it's disputed.

Sure seems like the "boys" in blue protecting one of their own, so to speak.

bet they wished they would've handled it a little differently than destroying the guy's whole career. i am in no way condoning his actions, but they should've given him some sort of out here... tabled the complaint, transferred him to a different partner, maybe. told him they'd give him a recommendation to work with a different PD... but the fabrication charge basically left him with nothing.

Hate to say it but it looks like there is a legit basis for his complaints and he tried every legal process but every one was corrupt and covered it up. Sounds unbelievable at first glance but the more you hear the worse the lapd sound...and based on their history it becomes more believable.

FBI should be involved at this point IMO, investigating his claims from an outside perspective that isn't part of the lapd gang.

Legit basis and gunning down cops and family of cops etc is different.

God forbid we give a cop a gun. Maybe we should give them a noodle stick.

well... at least in this case, we would've had a lot less harm done. Maybe the LAPD would only be paying for a car wash, instead of the cost of the lawsuit covering the medical expenses of the two women, a new car, lost wages, pain and suffering, etc.

oh, and they also rammed and shot up another pickup... this one belonged to a white guy going surfing at the beach. And the LAPD had just stopped him at a checkpoint and waved him through moments before.

yes, they need guns to do their job, but I guess they also need additional training. some very basic training.

Anyway, Dorner seems to be trapped in a cabin in Big Bear; but he also apparently has hostages.

sounds like there's an information overload coming right now.

100s of rounds over 30 minutes
2 wounded officers
smoke bombs masking a failed escape attempt
smoke bombs masking a police helicopter evac....

jeez.

can infrared scanners cut through smoke?

I think so. Should see right through it.

Edit, yes and no. It looks like cheap ones can't, but high end ones can.
2nd edit: I think the answer is yes and confusion stems from cheap nightvision stuff that people call infrared when it isn't
