Well, it's that time of year again. My friends and I were all ready to go down to AA and drink a little beer before, then go to the spring game. Watch the team line up and play a scrimmage against each other with thousands of other fans on a chilly APril Saturday at the Big House.

Nope!!

Communication from the University of Michigan, leaders and best, has been released. They are not going to have a game. Nothing will be televised on BTN. There will be an open practice with "maybe" some light scrimmaging. In other words, don't bother coming, so we aren't going. I hope no one else goes. I can drink beer at home without driving an hour both ways. Oh yeah, and parking will be available at Pioneer for $30. LOL! I guess they really need that money. Not like they don't charge enough during the fall. $30 to park there for what? an hour and a half to watch a practice?

Yes, yes, I know. It's just a spring game anyway. WHo really cares? They're dumb.

I have yet to see any list of recruits going to AA this weekend.

Meanwhile, OSU is having a huge spring game. They expect 80,000 fans. They'll have a real game. They have a long list of recruits going to the game and visiting that weekend. It will be televised.

I can't help but think, given the disparity between these two programs that one program is taking things seriously and one is missing the boat.

Touch the Banner gave a list of visitors. Not many coming:

He’s a 3-star, the #49 offensive tackle, and #552 overall. He just visited Michigan unofficially in mid-March, but this is an official visit.

4 guys...yeah, huge!!

they'll get to see a practice with a couple of hundred cold fans in the stands. I bet they'll be really impressed.

I read that one reason is to keep the new Gattis offense under wraps.

and osu fans make a big deal about everything. 75,000 truck drivers

Yeah and I heard "injuries." We hear this every year. They can find 22 guys and run vanilla. It's all bullshit!

Yes, 75,000 truck drivers that look impressive to a long list of recruits that are wondering what the stadium will be like on a football saturday.

any recruit worth looking at was in the stadium last fall for a REAL game. At the Nebraska whipping, we sat next to 5 of them who were written about by someone on MGoBlog. They saw what it was like to whip the corn at the Big House, on a beautiful day and even went down on the sidelines!

Did they get to see what it was like to whoop on the Buckeyes?

Let's face it. One program is just on another level right now. They get it. Until that changes, nothing will change.

Oh sorry, or it's just because they are dirty and paying players.

I wonder if Alabama is having a huge spring game. Oh nevermind. We all know that they are having a huge event.

Speaking of real games, yep, they increased the prices of single game tickets again.

I mean, why not?

Yep, I'm staying home.

prove the correlation between spring game/attendance/hoopla and success. Tennessee always has a huge turnout and they suck. and besides, we don't play the buckeyes in our spring game, so no recruit would get to see that during the spring game anyway.

you sounds very cranky about the topic. we will be back this fall as usual, regardless of the spring game/scrimmage.

I am cranky on the subject. I think we should be able to go down, tailgate before the game, go into the stadium and watch a little spring football. It would be a win-win for the program. I just don't get why certain coaches do this. Seems a waste. They should just cancel it again for weather like they did last year.

Correlation or not, one program is winning rivalry games and championships and having huge event spring games. One program is losing it's rivalry game and not winning any championships and has an open practice that won't be any fun at all.

no tailgating allowed!!! You can show up at noon and park for $30, but don't tailgate.

btw, I am staying positive about the direction of the program, but there are a lot of Michigan fans that are very cranky about the current state of the football program.

OH yeah and one thing I forgot to add

one program is killing the other in recruiting.

One other thing I forgot to mention. MY buddies and I would always donate to all of these charities that set up shop just outside of the stadium. I wonder how much money those guys will raise this Saturday.

Are you seriously suggesting OSU isn't dirty, and the problem is just that we don't have a bigger spring game than they do?

part of the problem

Sure, they're dirty

Plus they have a much better product, which will obviously attract better recruits, which will make the product better, etc

My wife and I have decided to spend our money on more basketball tickets instead. It's my favorite anyway and she's really grown to love Michigan basketball. She enjoy sports, but she really loves Michigan bball. I think it may have surpassed her beloved Chicago Bears, but don't tell her I said that. We can make the trip to Ann Arbor for multiple basketball games and still spend less than one football weekend. We don't get gouged on hotels during basketball season. We typically find really good deals and can stay downtown Ann Arbor for cheaper than the freaking Red Roof Inn or Comfort Inn during football season.

I have made the trip from Indy to Ann Arbor for football games at least twice a year since 2001. Just not worth the investment anymore. Our next game we attend will be in 2021 when Washington comes.
