Locked On Detroit Tigers Podcast. A Tale Of Two Tanks. 20 minutes.

The Tigers picked up their 3rd win of the season last night thanks to two home runs from Schoop and Stewart. Chris talks about those as well as the excellent work put in by the bullpen. In segment two, he talks about the influx of home runs we've seen from the Tigers this season and previews tonight's pitching matchup between Boyd and Duffy.

Bless You Boys Tigers Blog Podcast 86: Magic 8-ball says the 2020 Detroit Tigers will be pretty fun. 50 minutes.
The BYB staff talks baseball from a Tigers perspective.

After a night of pure dominance from the vaunted Detroit Tigers bullpen ? just go along with it ? the club is out to a solid 3-2 start in this compressed season of madness. The Tigers have a tendency to look their best early in a season before the long fade to the bottom begins, so don?t get too excited, but there are at least reasons for optimism and in 2020, optimism is an especially valuable commodity.

Hang in there long enough, Tigers, and your front office may reward you with some top prospect backup in the rotation and bullpen. In the meantime, Daniel Norris seems soon to return, and the club could really use him right now. They could also really use Casey Mize now that their starting pitching depth has quickly unravelled and the arrival of top prospect Nate Pearson to the Toronto Blue Jays tells us the service time barrier has fallen.

Hosts Brandon Day and Ashley MacLennan will talk early returns from the Tigers? position groups, and then take a look at happenings good and bad ?mostly bad ? around the league.

Obviously the flame-throwing work of relievers Gregory Soto and Jose Cisnero has been the most obvious thing to get too-soon excited about, but overall there are encouraging signs from the offense as well. We knew they?d be better this year, and if they could just trim the punchouts a little bit they might surprise with league average performance.

Michael Fulmer?s return to action went reasonably well, but oddly it?s the rotation where the club now looks weakest. At least for the moment. Funny how things change.

From happy thoughts on the Tigers, we?ll then wrap the show discussing the league?s miserable handling of the Miami Marlins COVID-19 outbreak, why we still have no idea if baseball can pull this off, Justin Verlander?s injury, and a few more odds and ends before we wrap.

RAPID FIRE.
Totally Tigers

The Tigers have completed their very first series ? and won it as well. Based upon this very small taste, what are our two bloggers first impressions?

Holly and Kurt are answering 5 questions but only have 2 sentences for each in which to share their observations. And, as always, neither of them share their comments in advance with each other. Let?s get to it!

1. The Tigers won their very first series of the year. Does this give you any hope that they will be somewhat competitive this year?

2. What are your thoughts about the pitching rotation so far?

3. Who has been your favorite player so far?

4. What is your greatest concern about the team?

5. Which player(s) will be most helpful to the team in this short season?
