Suh Restructured

Im thinking losing CJ would be more equivalent to losing Verlander..

Losing Stafford would be like losing Cabrera (and prince pretty much).

I can see that.

I made the Cabrera comparrison because they both are offensive guys.....either way....wouldn't be the GM's fault if a star got hurt and the deam didn't preform as well.

I think the only way Mayhew and Schwartz would get an 'excuse' would be if Stafford went down for an extended period of time. As dominate as CJ is, if you have a top 10 QB on your team, that team should be able to overcome the loss of the best reciever. (See NE Last year when they went without Gronk and Hernandez for a big portion of the year).

I just pray to God that we dont have to find out first hand if thats the case...those two guys need to stay healthy!!

"Although the figures are still unknown, the move could clear up more than $7 million in cap space this year. It also means Suh's $17.57 million cap number in 2014 could rise as much as $3.8 million. "

This concerns me for the future. Maybe they will restructure again next year??? $20 mil for suh next year is a very steep price, but that's for next year to worry about.

They extend him next year like they did with Calvin to lower his 2014 cap number and keep Suh long term. Same with Stafford. The Lions have alot of space in 2014 even with Suh and Stafford on big numbers. With the restructures, only about 1.7 million more than they are now because Stafford base salary dropped 1.5 milloin and Suh's drops 600 K.

It will still be a solid amount of room depening how much Jones, Quinn,Bush, Houston and Levy get in year 2 of their new deals. Tulloch and Calvin don't have big jumps in 2014. Burleson does but this is his last year so we'll save 2.5 million there. Backus and Raiola have 6.5 milloin of space that will go to other players. 6.6 million in dead money for KVB/Young the Lions will get. Lions cut Best to get another 800 K. Pettigrew, Scheffler Hill are the big free agents and their expired contracts is 8 million in space. That 8 million can be used to get Pettigrew and Hill back.

If best retires before June 1st we get his money back, cap wise. Think that's around 2 mil.
