The All-Board Team (Since 1969)

Another question for you guys... why are you so confident that Rickey Henderson wasn't also a juicer? He played with McGwire, Canseco, Giambi and many other know users. During a 1992 FBI investigation McGwire was found to be using throughout the early '90s when he was teammates w/ Canseco and Henderson. Canseco admitted to using back then too. I'd guess that when you've got multiple guys confirmed to be using on the same team during the same time period that it's probably pretty rampant in the organization. Just sayin'.

His name never came up for one. For two, Canseco named everyone else in the universe, why would he leave Rick off if he was juicing?

Nice attempt to defend Barry though!!

I don't think anyone here ever said Bonds wasn't a great player. For the record, he was great. But when considering he cheated, it denigrates every single of his lofty statistical accomplishments, like it or not. Had he not cheated, perhaps the majority would say he was greater than Rickey. Maybe even the best ever at his position. Certainly the case can be made that he was probably the greatest fielding left fielder regardless. His hitting numbers still would have been really good, or even perhaps great, without the PEDs. Bottom line, he is a cheater, his status is diminished, and he is not the greatest.

I think that Bonds is the undisputed best LF since 1869 ... as well as 1969.

Tell that to Ted Williams!

Any post '69 list without Bonds is a joke. Roids or not, he's one of the best to ever play the game. He was a 7x MVP, hit 73HR in a season, was walked 232 times in a season with 122 of them being intentionally, has a 1.051 career OPS (he put up 1.422 one season for God's sake!), and finished with a 171.8 WAR in 22 seasons (for perspective, Babe Ruth put up a 172 WAR in his 22 seasons). I think a lot of people really forget how good he was. Stack his offensive numbers up against guys like Aaron, Mantle, Mays, Cobb, Musial, Williams, Gehrig and Pujols and you'll understand. Rickey Henderson was a damn good player, but he's not in the conversation when you talk about the best players ever to play the game. Bonds is.

* to all his numbers you stack up against the other greats, his numbers are tainted, and therefor you cant compare them to what players like Mays, Mantle, Ruth etc, put up.

Imagine Ruth's number on HgH and 'roids for half his career.

Imagine Ruth's number if he played against non-whites, imagine Ruth's number if he faced the specialized relief pitching of today, imagine Ruth's number if he played half his career at Three Rivers or Candlestick instead of a stadium built with a short right field porch specifically for him.

Canseco named Pudge. Do you think Pudge juiced?
