The Future Bitch and Moan Thead

My bitch and moan,..... this draft has been over discussed due to the additional waiting period. It fucked up the rhythm of the whole off-season. I completely hate the format of the draft starting on Thursday. The old way was better. I'm not even excited for this year's draft and I kind of don't care what they do. I'll still pay attention though,....and the NFL knows it.

Draft... meh. There are half a dozen players I could see us taking at 10 that would all be justifiable. Rounds 2 and 3 are entirely dependent upon 1, so I can't pretend I'll be exited or upset about anyone we pick.

What I am going to bitch/moan about this coming season is if Slay and Bentley still can't cover anyone. Bentley was injured most of his rookie year, so both players are pretty close being sophomores right now. CBs generally take 2-3 years to develop, so it's time to start seeing something.

Slay has all the physical tools, but just struggled to recognize routes and get in position. Bentley has vacillated between being solid and being unable to stay with his man. Even if we grab a CB at 10, he's going to take time to adjust. Houston is what he is and will start showing physical decline going forward. Either Slay and Bentley start stepping up, or the defense will be the bane of our season.

outside of taking a QB in the first i could see 7 positions taken..no bitching from me

So...
two people don't want Mike Evans (hughes/hippo)
one doesn't want Ebron (Tony)
three don't want Beckham (Lucke/Ink/atx)
two people don't want Lewan (Ink,lucke)
and three people don't want Barr (myself, lucke and Tony)

I keep getting this gut feeling it will be Fuller, Beckham or Cooks for some reason.

It's the Ford's legacy.. We hit on a few drafts.. Then fuck them up and don't use them right and still hardly ever make the playoffs.. I hope we do well. I hope we make he playoffs... I hope we win a game or two in the playoffs.. That is a lot of hoping... Just what a typical Lions fans has to do...The Ford's have a losing record for a reason, and we are stuck with them :/
Maybe JR. will do better.... We can only Hope :)

Don't hold your breath Bob. You may pass out. I think Jr is a little more focused than his father. Dad hated the business side of the thing. That is the reason for the stupid hires. They need a strong football guy to replace Lewand. That's where to start. If that happens, then we can feel better about the direction. Until then, same old crap just a different season.

Jr isn't even the owner. he's just a chairman, unless something's changed recently that i'm not aware of. after Sr died, the team went to his wife. but that doesn't really mean anything about who's running the team, just who's name is on the ownership contract.

i would think being the son he'd have some play in ownership don't he? to some percentage?????

I don't think it gets split. It would normally go to the wife unless he stipulated in his will that Jr. is the man.

William Clay Ford Jr. is not an owner of the Lions in any way.

Ownership was passed to Sr.'s Wife, Martha Ford.

William Jr. is the acting "chairman" of the team. I put that in quotes because it's really unclear what his official title is, other than the MFWIC (mother fucker what in charge for the non-military folks).

Martha has 100% control of the team. William Jr. is running the team, but answers to mom.

Ownership is only divided or bequeathed to a child in her will upon her death.

Bill Ford Jr. was one of three involved in the last 2 coaching searches other than Mayhew and Lewand and will be the main guy if we needed, which we won't a new GM.

Bill Ford Jr is hands off most of the time. Mayhew/Lewand run the show for personnel/cap and operations

is this supposed to be a good thing? cause 1 coaching hire was piss poor....the other is unknown.

At the time Schwartz was the correct hire with experienced coordinators. EVERYONE LOVED the hire at the time. If Schwartz personality didn't go to shit over his HC stint or if he didn't get screwed over by turnovers(players/Linehan) and injuries he would be our coach still.

Schwartz took us up a notch, now Caldwell and company take us all the way.

not sure how you couldn't take us "up a notch" from 0-16. The rest of your post is blah blah blah more excuses. You should trademark "Was good but" you use it so much....

Legit reasons. But I love Caldwell and what he did with Manning.

So can't wait to see the turnovers reduced and the Lions win a ton of games.

Manning 2 years before Caldwell 42 picks
Stafford 2 years before Caldwell 39 picks

Can't wait for elite Stafford.
