Raburn starts to hit,so Leyland starts him at 2b for the playoffs, and has 2 errors to cost us game 1 along with leaving 11 men in scoring position. we lose 1-0 JV throws a one hitter and loses.

And Penny starts game 2. He has experience, lol. You know its happening.

All of you need to be very very quite..... Yeah MIkebig is popping off on Raburn over at ESPN conveniently forgetting his first 90 games this season. Raburn is fine if he only plays once or twice a week verses LHP... That is it...

So you think Leyland should change his strategy that has worked all of Sept. for the playoffs? I thought the morons stayed away from this board but I quess I was wrong:) He will use his same RH and LH line-ups he's been using and I wouldn't expect anything else. They have worked out great since the trades brought us DY and Betemit and Boesch went down.

Then I guess we'll see you later.

I don't really understand the Raburn hate at this point. On the Saturday telecast, Fox posted the top batting averages in baseball for Sept/Oct since 2008 and Raburn was number 1. Number 1 in all of baseball in the last month over the last 4-5 years.

Sure, he sucks at defense, but so do Young, Betemit, Magglio ect. I'm not sure why any Tiger fan would not want a guy like that in the line up at this time of year unless their blind hate is more powerful than their desire to see the team win.

it isn't just about late season batting averages, Santiago is a better fielding 2nd base than Raburn and a more consistent hitter. this team has enough fire power to win games, but not at the expense of a 2nd basemen giving it away with errors.

So, a guy over the course of several years having the best average in baseball, better than Cabrera and Fielder and Ichiro, better than the clutchiest clutchy players like Jeter and Ortiz, should routinely sit? To be consistent, shouldn't you want Inge over Betemit, as Inge is to Betemit as Santiago is to Raburn?

I'd like to see Raburn play right, I guess, over Magglio and keep Santiago at second. But to dismiss Raburn's offense is nuts, I think. We'll see how powerful the Tiger's offense is against playoff pitchers, because I suspect every plus bat will be needed.

Raburn had 2/3 of the season to prove he can hit, and he failed at it, yet alone his fielding. I never liked him and guess I'm just too stubborn or stupid to give him anymore chances.

Raburn before August: Shinebox. Raburn August-October: Babe Ruth. 'nuf said! lol

Actually its nothing to do about that but Leyland being dumb. For 3 plus months he was horribad, played a lot. Now that he's hitting well he sits more than ever. Bottom line, Leyland is a dumbass.

yes, I go with my best 8 players every night, only if the stats are overwhelmingly in favor of one over the other.

He was bad in May and June. In april he had a wOBA of .323, which isn't horrible.

But it basically comes down to people hating Raburn because he is Raburn.

Delmon Young has a shitty beginning of the year, then ends the year strong = DELMON IS GOD

Ryan Raburn has a shitty beginning of the year, then ends the year strong = RABURN IS A BUM

I don't hate Raburn because he's Raburn, I dislike him because he's a shitty baseball player.

Talk all you want about about his second halfs, he is terrible in the first half.

What would your boss say if you went to work and just fucked up until lunch?

But then you worked really hard the rest of the day?

You would get your ass fired.

He's not a good fielder, and he's not consistent, he's a waste of a roster spot until mid-july.

and for the record, as I have said many times, I don't like Delmon Young either

But, do you support not playing him now? The fact that he was bad for much of the season, and much of a lot of seasons is at this point irrelevant to me. He has a history of being good at this time of year, so I believe he should be in there.

Vs. LHP yes, I like to see him start in the OF only.

He still should sit vs. RHP, and never see 2b, not with all the true infielders we have on the roster right now.

And while I'm glad he is producing now, I don't feel it makes up for poor defense at all positions, and horrible first halves.

If he comes back next year the same guy, we need to release him, consistent production over a full season is what we need.

You could also argue that he's hot when we need him the least.
