The Official Illinois vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread UFU Edition

Illinois played a great game. Excellent time management. Excellent game plan. Michigan played like shit on both sides of the ball.

Another embarrassing loss for Moore. Lifeless effort. No emotion. No attention to detail. Nothing.

Why on earth would you rush the field? You are at home, and the higher ranked team. Stupid. And to boast about preparing 365 days for this game.... Get the fuck outta here with that shit.

Just watched the last interception. The Illinois DB was watching Tuttle the whole time as he drifted over towards Loveland. He was in perfect position to pick off the pass. No one else could get open? Coaches need to sit down with Tuttle and the DBs and watch that play over and over and over again.

I told the coaches that jadyn davis should be the qb 3 week's ago. The dumbasses don't listen.

The problems are much greater than just the qb. Receivers are not getting open. DBs are poor on pass coverage. Tackling is poor. DL commits stupid penalties and does not get off the blocks letting ball carriers run right past them untouched. Having yet another qb will not address all the problems this team is dealing with.

And yet with all the defense issue which are a lot Illinois still only scored 21 points.
Not great but with just a a half way decent offense we should scored 21 points in today’s game. I am not impressed with Moore and his staff. So far they are showing they are not the guys to be in charge. Sadly we have gone from 1st to almost worst in a span of less than a year.

yeah, talent is not the issue.

Look at Cade McNamara in 2021 vs. Cade McNamara now.

Same guy, more experience, lousy team, lousy coaching, lousy game plan.

Fucking bring Quinn Ewers or the Manning kid here and you'll have the same result: good athletes put in bad situations by bad coaching.

I do kinda wonder why Warde Manuel took until after the season started to sign Moore's contract. Was he hoping this would be an interim season to truly evaluate Moore, and see whether he could manage the entire workload of coaching the team?

Again, like in 2008, we would've been better served by naming an interim coach and sweating through a year like that, rather than rushing to get a new staff in place and sign new contracts on the fly.

The "interim coaches hurt recruiting" people don't know WTF they're talking about. Good coaches are 10 times as important as good recruits. And of course LOSING games and becoming a national story hurts recruiting a lot too.

We're probably stuck with Moore for at least another season. Hopefully not stuck with Martindale and Campbell for another as well.

BUT maybe Warde will surprise us though and bring in Scot Loeffler in December, or January if we're playing in some Toilet Bowl

Yeah, right now we are looking at some toilet bowl, if any bowl. Frustrating!

Byco helpfully pointed out none of the games remaining on our schedule are gimmes, and three of them remaining are against Oregon, OSU, and now Indiana, which appears to be a football juggernaut somehow.

We're currently 4-3, and could very well finish 5-7 or worse. Even making a bowl would be an achievement from this point.

The Indiana case should give the recruiting junkies pause... if Indiana can play like that, good coaching must matter more than talent.

I think the only three remaining games that are possible wins are NU, MSU and IU. They will not be easy wins. Even NU is probably going to be a struggle. 😖

I think there's enough talent on this team to win out... but it's handicapped by incompetent coaching. The more likely outcome is to finish 0-5

I also mentioned that I support the idea of Michigan football becoming an independent program, and letting it settle. where it settles (adding here that it should also escalate its academic requirements for all athletes to match those of the rest of the student body, proscribe any and all NIL incentives, and play the best possible competition).

This will happen when OSU erects a statue of Fielding Yost on its campus.
