The Official Iowa vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

This was bad all around

I put a lot on the coaches with the play calling

Sleight just way off tonight

It doesn't matter. Playoffs are out. Let's beat IU and get ready to play someone like Utah or Oklahoma in a bowl

Michingan should be 5th or 6th. I still think they control their own destiny. Win out and win the Big 10 championship and they get in.

Yay. That scenario includes the fictional idea of winning in Columbus.

We knew we had one problem on defense......the linebackers. Teams are exploiting this now. Time to get the kids some experience for next year because Mike McCray had his ass handed to him alllll night.
He did against MSU but the offense kinda bailed him out with 21 1st qtr points.

McCray is not what UM should expect for a linebacker

We were going to have to win in Columbus anyway. That hasn't changed. Just have to hope Michigan brings their A game in 2 weeks rather than what we saw last night.

Not to get your hopes up too high, but we haven't won in Columbus since 2000. The way we have looked on the road, Rutgers doesn't count, does not bode well.

My hopes aren't high. I'm saying I don't think the game is a definite loss just because of how we looked last night. We hadn't won in East Lansing since 2007 either. A lot can change between now and Nov 26 is all I'm saying.

Three things definitely need to change on offense. 1) Come up with a different play for McDoom. Iowa knew when he was brought in to watch for the jet sweep and they were ready for it. OSU will be. The guy has more talent than that. Use it. 2) Come up with some new plays for Peppers. When he comes in at wildcat teams know it is going to be a run and are ready for it. OSU will be. 3) Sit Smith on the bench. More often than not he stops running behind the line resulting in a loss. He has done this for at least three years now. A running back that stops running is not a running back. Sit him.

The incompetence from our coaching staff last night reminded me of the play calling under Brady Hoke because after the first quarter last night it was beyond awful. Nothing over the middle, nothing underneath, no tempo at all. Let's panic and use Flea Flickers when we need a sustained drive. SMITH with a stupid bunny hop before getting tackled for a saftey like he was getting a regular midfield handoff. It even Permeated Brown 's defensive mind with all of his blitzing. That 4th and 5 blitz at the 5 yard line was just so stupid. They do not have decent receivers all we need was a stop. Also how about that 8-10 yard gain to set up the wining fg. REALLY WTF DEFENSE WAS THAT? Bad tackling cropped up late last season after the three shutouts and it's starting to happen again because the Spartan game and last night it was really suspect again outside of Peppers. O$u is peeking at the right time as usual and Michigan is fading late again as usual. I just do not get the play calling last night . It's like Jim had nothing after the first quarter when things started to go south. It really did feel like Iowa knew what play was coming so are we telegraphing our sets or what ?

Also personally I feel all personal foul calls need to be review from the booth espically easy ones like face masking because that 15 yards made a difference on that kick.
