I forgot about the bad loss under Hoke, it was clear the season was toast after that one.

I remember michlady astutely predicting that if we lost that game, Hoke would lose the team.

I remember the game where a lot of players coming back and supporting the team to help us beat PennState as a sad desperation move, but in retrospect, it is kinda reassuring.

too bad Hoke was such an incompetent... but it all worked out in the end. The family perseveres

Slow starts for one. If they have slow starts against PSU and UOS and possibly MSU you can forget it.

a slow start where we get in a hole against OSU is more or less a sure bet loss, I agree.


Maybe also against MSU... although MSU isn't a very good team this year, and has an atrocious pass defense, which is the one thing you need if you're going to hold on to a lead.


PSU also scores quickly, and has blown leads all the time under Franklin.


So, yeah, I wish we'd jump out to 14-0 first Q leads each week and cruise to easy wins, but it isn't always realistic, esp. when we're preparing for our upcoming brutal 3 game stretch, and being cautious to keep tendencies hidden and not give too much film to UW, PSU, MSU, and ultimately OSU.
