The Official MICHIGAN BYE WEEK #1 Thread

Sorry, Byco, "Not White Vic" has earned a new moniker with his foolishness that crosses all threads as far as I'm concerned.

Well, it's very small of you to come to that conclusion.

Not the transition I'm referring to. Michigan I continue to have respect for. I'm concerned about your trans-racial transition.

Glad to know you still "have respect" for MICHIGAN. That's great.

Anyone doing anything interesting with the free Saturday? We're going to a BBQ party charity event for Denver Kids. Supposed to be a real pig roast!

heading back to MI for a wedding.

hoping the mild, (but ominously lingering) cold my youngest son gave me doesn?t get any worse.

It will.

Flying just always does that.

Plus you?ll get everyone else on the plane sick too.

If it was me, I would use it as an excuse to get out of going to the wedding.

It?s one of my best friends.

also, I?ve only met the bride-to-be once, I?m not sure if she likes me, and I get the sense this is important to him, so I have to go.

Even though he didn?t come to my wedding and had a bunch of excuses.

and even though at his last wedding (11 years ago) I puked in his bathroom, and his wife screamed at me, and didn?t care when I explained to her (in between heaves) that her new husband was the one who told me to puke in his bathroom.

We were playing beer pong with this heavy ass wisconsin beer in wisconsin. (so everyone got too loaded, not just me.)

Hmmm.

So, why do you suspect this next bride may have apprehensions about you?

it?s complicated. mostly] it?s the groom?s own fault.

we were kinda ?partners in crime? in a lot of drunken/fucked up antics over the years, and I suspect she?s picked up on that and is a little wary of me.

thing is... 1) things never got TOO out of control. and 2) he was as much of an instigator - if not more - than I was. And now that I?m a dad and all, it?s not like that situation is going to repeat itself.

I met her last year, and I think she liked me. we didn?t get a lot of time to chat. They had an xmas party and she was mostly talking to other guests.

She said something like ?Wow, so you?re Champ. you were such a big part of Dickhead?s life, and I don?t even know you? when we met, and I could tell she wanted to grill me on who I was, what I did, my thoughts on things, etc.

Yes, I sussed this from your story of his last wedding.

It was what I was alluding to in my question, which was sarcastic and rhetorical.

I have a friend like that. If I tell my wife we are hanging out she will say something like, ?you better be careful and don?t drive!?

And his wife tells him the exact same when he tells her he?s hanging with me.

haha yeah.

It?s probably a good thing I don?t live near any of my drinking buddies from my 20s early 30s.

I remember my dad telling me about how at his 30th high school reunion (so age 48) everyone was still partying hard. At the 40th all the partiers were sticking to plain soda water and had all sorts of chronic health problems, or were dead. yikes

I plan to steer closer to moderation, or at least the edge of it, so I can still drink when I?m 88, if I make it that far, like Grandpa Michchamp.
