I wish the season was over.. I have seen to many losses since 197o that derail seasons in way or another ...hey we still have 1997...yippee..you just cannot blow a game like this anyway anyhow.

I am hoping that this loss doesn't take the wind out of the team's sails. There are still at least 5 games left on the schedule.

The good thing is that they have a bye now, so plenty of time to plan for bringing the Little Brown Jug back home.

I think they will continue to be what they were heading into the game. A team with a really good defense, and mediocre offense what lacks a QB to lead them. They'll beat most teams but any game against a top 10 school will be very hard to win. Desperately gotta get a better than average QB in there, we saw today how just having a good QB can carry you in big games.

I disagree. The problem tonight was as much with the D playing with a below normal intensity. The nastiness they have shown in previous games was rarely shown. I think I only noticed their usual swagger a couple of times, but it was absolutely not sustained. Their attitude that the opponent will NOT get a 1st down was rarely seen. I really cannot understand why it was missing. How often was Peppers name called on D? Maybe that was part of it as he is one of those guys who sets the tone, I don't know.

Rudock played the type of game he is asked to. Relatively conservative and do NOT turn the ball over. He completed more deep throws than any prior game, but unfortunately missed Chesson on that late deep throw. Is Rudock a great QB? Obviously not. But in relation to what the coaches ask him to do, he did a decent job...especially with not turning it over.

And that's the problem. In order to beat elite teams, you need to have a QB that can win games or at the very least make a couple big plays. Michigan can't count on him to do any of that. If Ruddock was the QB forever, we'd be an eternal 8-4 team.

Agreed 100%. Everyone knew that how those 3 played would be the difference maker. Michigan did better than I thought they would but they still gave up too many big plays.

1. I get that MSU game planned away from Peppers, was just pointing out that by him not being involved in plays there was less of a spark. The dude can ball, and MSU was smart to avoid him.

2. But UM had the game won until the muff at the end. That isn't on Rudock. He did what was asked of him and he had the team in position to win. This wasn't like the Utah pick 6 or something. Was he blameless? NO! Does he deserve tons of criticism? No. He, for the most part, played well tonight in the system UM has in place.

3. The D lacked fire, passion, and nastiness. That had nothing to do with the caliber of the opponent, that is an internal motivation and attitude that was missing.

Not to mention the number of stupid penalties committed by the D, especially the one's that resulted in 1st downs for MSU. Their head's were not in the game as much as previous games, which I find confusing with it being a rivalry game. This is why I'm thinking the team is battling a cold or something, they were just not at their normal mental level.

All Blake had to do was fall on the ball and let the defense take over for one play.

14 plays for 6 total yards in Michigan's last 4 drives. Get a single first down in any if thise drives and UM wins despite being dominated statistically.

And again, despite ALL of that leading up to that point, Michigan just needed to punt the ball to win.

MSU could have out-gained them 900/40 in the game, didn't matter. You punt, you win.
