The Official Penn St vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

Sorry I am still pissed off. What threads were deleted? They must had said something really bad..

Just rubbed some salt in the wound and watched the game again...

1. The Oline seems to have one guy eff up per play. 4 guys do their job, one guy effs up, and Fitz lacks the vision and ability to make a cut to avoid it like Gardner can.

2. The playcalling seems worse now than it did from the stands. Holy hell Borges is a fucktard. Hoke and DG deserve a ton of blame for the delay of game that led to the punt with 50s left but on 3rd and long, they ran a fucking stretch play with an OLine and RB that at that point had 20 carries for 23 yards, 12 of them for no gain or loss, and the previous 4 carries by Fitz were for 0, 1, 3, and 0. When they needed probably 3-5 yards to get into FG range to win, they gave the ball to a guy who only 5 times THE WHOLE game carried the ball for at least 3 yards. 5 of 20 carries at that point got the necessary yardage to put the team in position to win.

3. Channing Stribling missed knocking down the ball on both of PSU's bombs on their game tying drive. HORRID ball skills. Can't really blame coaches for that. He was in position twice and shit the bed.

4. Fitz himself is a better RB on stretch runs with OLine zone blocking but the OLine can't zone block. Green is a better downhill runner with an Oline that doesn't block consistently. What's keeping Fitz on the field is pass blocking and blitz pickup. UM has to try to run to set up PA even if for no gain. But when it's not there, don't do it on 3rd and 2 or when you need a handful of yards to win the game.

RE #3: They obviously saw that during the game and waited to capitalize on it at the end.

Up one score the mentality was our Defense can hold them instead of trying to make the game a mute point at that time of the game.. I would rather try and get a first down with a throw that guarantees a win then run the ball and the clock another 35 seconds and let a underdog team have a chance down one score. Clock management has been a issue under Hoke.. Losing that 5 yards was a awful decision by him and DG... But with it third and 6 if you want to play it safe rollout Gardner and see what happens. Freaking 80 yards in 45 seconds is a freaking Joke... That can only happen to teams we play against not our defense, and yet even with having Ryan back Mattison's defense could not make a play.. 43 points verses that PSU team is really unacceptable.

I was there as well. OSU scored on the opening drive and did not get another first down until 7:11 in the fourth quarter, converting a third and 10. Then they scored with 3 or so minutes to play. Bo, knowing that a tie was not going to get M to the RB, aired it out and Ray Griffin picked off a pass and ran it to the three. Pete Johnson finished. Disappointing to be sure, but there's no shame in that team losing to an undefeated #1 OSU. You want to mention OSU-M games, 1972 and 1974 were far more frustrating than 1975. And none of them can be categorized with yesterday's debacle of a game.

I guess it depends on a person's perspective.

That Michigan team, after stumbling their way out of the gate to two uncharacteristic out of conference ties, went on to crush Missourri and ran the table in the Big 10 up to the OSU game and I believe was the #4 team in the country going into the game with a minimum assurance of an Orange Bowl; a victory over the Buckeyes would have kept (I'm pretty sure) a national championship or a co-national championship possibility alive depending how things played out elsewhere.

We've already substantially lowered expectations for this Michigan team; and they were only a three point favorite going into the game yesterday.

Anyway, I thought M was gonna beat OSU back then the way the game had been going, and was pretty bummed over the loss.

And the freakin' taunting visiting Buckeye fans didn't help.

On the other hand, arguably the most horrible painful come from ahead heartbreaking in the history is and always will be...

Whichever one was most recent.

So you do have a point about yesterday's debacle.

Still stings but not a loss at the top of the list of "worst losses" by any means.

Now, was that the most inexplicable string of coaching eff ups? Perhaps. there were 7 or 8 minutes of horribly mismanaged coaching on both sides of the ball, then on top of it four horribly mismanaged overtime periods. a lot of times there was 1 or 2 times where they chose to be ultra conservative. Yesterday again, it was on both sides of the ball, for half of the 4th quarter, and then all 4 overtimes.

If you still have the game on dvr, go to the first offensive play after UM picked off Hackenberg in the first quarter. They moved Lewan to the right side, next to Schofield and then ran Fitz on a stretch to the left, away from the heavy side. Run it in slow-mo so you can really enjoy it. No BS, Chris Bryant and AJ Williams were pushed back 5 frigging yards into the backfield. I thought Bryant was supposed to be an earth mover. I tend to watch AJ Williams closely. My kids go to Sycamore HS, where he came from. He was atrocious all night. Couldn't block anybody. Watching this line F up on play after play after play is the most frustrating damn thing. And could someone mention to D. Green that he is 235-240 lbs., and if there is no hole, instead of stopping short of the line, he might want to slam in there, keep his feet churning and try to grind out a yard or two.

I have two Ohio State tickets for sale. Not up for driving 4 hours each way to watch my team get humiliated. And I'd rather shred them than put them on Stub Hub for some turd from Columbus to buy.

Not important. You, me and bamF were bantering back and forth and now those posts are no longer there........whatever.

What did I type that was offensive?

What's worse, putting your two best blockers on the right side of the line and then running left, or watching two mediocre at best blockers get pushed into the backfield while the running play goes away from the two best blockers on the line?

there was a moment last night where I was typing and I may have he the delete button when I had hit the quote button... I normally catch myself but maybe I did not last night. I was so pissed last night an I still am.. I hate teams having long winning streaks verses Michigan. One was broken last night until our coaches decide to play wimpy ball.

Yeah me and my friend were wondering why move Taylor to the right side and then run to the left... Just another dumb move by Borges.

I think I know what happened... I was in bad form and using a bad word to discribe our coaches. Where those threads deleted?

Did anyone see Michigan replay? Do they tape it on Saturday or Sunday? Just curious to Here what Hoke said after yet another road debacle under his tenure.

None of the posts were offensive. Basically Bob was venting about the coaches and I believe Bam said no way was he jumping ship despite the poor performance and I was agreeing. That's why I wondered where the posts went since it was the usual banter after a poor Michigan showing.

Jump ship?

Who of us would be able to jump ship?

Aren't we pretty much all shackled for life, for better or for worse?

I told my wife after the game last night I am not watching Michigan again this year end she laughed at me..
