The Official Woofing and Barking Thread for THE GAME

I just hope that Michigan is disciplined and avoids the stupid penalties. There's been a few times this year where I was terrified that a guy was going to get flagged for talking shit after the game and you know that the scumbags are going to be trying to instigate. Stay out of the shit talking, don't retaliate when they start shit. The refs are not going to give Michigan a call so don't give them any more reason to fuck you over.

I hope Brown and the defense clean up the middle. Indiana was carving us up over the middle. If any team and coach deserves to be pounded it’s Meyer and Osu. That said I will believe it when I see it as sadly we have just flat out struggled in this game. We have to flip this series somehow some way. Maybe use the middle blitz a tad more . We didn’t show it much verses the Qb of Indiana. Maybe that was by design. So they could use it in this game .

Look for them to use Tate Martell for most or all of the game just to fuck with the defense. I hope Brown and co are anticipating this.

This is the biggest concern for myself. Can we shore up the middle? Its our whole middle, defensive line on the runs and middle of the field on the slants. Also, Ohio St is gearing up for a huge screen pass. Im betting we get burned more than once on the screen. If we hold them under 21 points, we can win. But since we started losing on a regular basis after 2003, I've been of the mind set that whatever bad can happen, will happen. This team needs to get this program over the hump. I cant live like this any longer.

Hey, long time no see.....honestly though, I'm not sure how my emotions can handle this game. My stomach is already churning thinking about it. It's been 18 years...we're due, right? I mean, none of us for as long as we've been posting have been able to post about Michigan beating OSU in Columbus.

Cowherd now saying Meyer is done after this season as well.

I guess some people can only tolerate so much cheating.

Tressel had a bottomless appetite for it, because he was a very stupid man. He had no brains, and therefore No conscience to trouble him. But with stupidity comes the risk of getting caught, which happened in 2010.

Ohio State walks a fine line here. Bring in a good coach with personal integrity, but run the risk of him leaving in disgust when the program's sleaziness burns him out? or bring in an idiot figurehead, but run the risk of him blowing the whole thing up by badly mismanaging a scandal?

What to do...

I think, given the NCAA's "hands off approach" to enforcing the rules, OSU decided cheating is worth it. the only cost is possibly having to forfeit a season now and then (but you still get to keep all the money you make).

Great, now OSU will be inspired to send the cheater out on a high note (assuming Cowherd is right).

I think it's more because of his health -- he looks like his head is going to explode during every game. He seems like he's just wearing down.

If he does leave, my suspicion would be that they would promote someone like Ryan Day rather than try and hire a huge name again (because there aren't a lot of great available option out there right now). Plus, USC is likely going to be looking for a whole new coaching staff so another elite program will be looking.

I'll still only believe he's gone when I see it.

UNC has shown everyone the NCAA has no teeth if you just don't cooperate.

I do think that the casual fan out there in the CFB world is pulling for MICHIGAN. Seems most of the co-workers I know -PSU, CU, IU, even Wisky - are saying they're rooting for UM because... A) Tired of osu/Meyer and B) UM is the better team.

Maybe they can convince Les Miles to quit his new job at at Kansas, and come to OSU instead.

Checks a lot of boxes-native Ohio born son, very tied into the rivalry, marquis name, history of success, good coach, smart, and just the right amount of wrong.

In my experience, most people without a dog in the fight like Michigan better than OSU, except for a significant portion of the MSU fanbase.

better school, better uniforms, likable coaches, better character, better fight song, not corrupt and sleazy as hell, etc.

Everyone who matters agrees on these things.

Over the last 5 games, Indiana, Rutgers, MSU, Penn St, and Wisconsin, averaged 9.4 completed passes per game and completed pass percentages below 40%. Haskins tied the school record for passing TD's last week.

This garbage headline is attached to some decent stats: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/michigan-ohio-state-is-actually-worth-the-hype-this-year/

I think everything in this game favors UM except for the skill positions. However, the fact that UM has a better OL and SIGNIFICANTLY better defense will negate the advantage OSU has at the offensive skill positions. I don't think OSU will be able to move the ball effectively. I predicted a 28-14 game in the prediction thread....I don't think it will be that close. UM's D will score a TD and probably 3 turnovers. OSU will have a hard time stopping UM's offense. UM will have a TD over 60 yards.

DL UM
LBs UM
DBs UM
OL UM
QB OSU
WRS OSU
RBs close but OSU

I am going to change my prediction

UM 35
OSU 10

And so once again the forces of good face the forces of evil. This time in the viper's own den.

To paraphrase Conan the Barbarian when asked what is good in life:

To be standing on the empty field after the battle, look down and see your enemy's blood on the grass.

To see your enemy driven to his knees before you with his head hung low.

To hear the weeping of your enemy's old men, his women and children.

To crush your enemy and celebrate your victory in his house.

No mercy! No mercy! No mercy!

GO BLUE!

Unfortunately, my PTSD won't let me say with certainty that Michigan will win. I would feel better if The Game wasn't in Columbus, but it is, and hinky shit always seems to happen when The Game is played there. That said, I am cautiously optimistic that the good guys will prevail.

I had a more elaborate/hyperbolic prediction that I was dying to post, but I feel like it's too late to do so now.

It's never too late. Post it. Give the people what they want!
