Good idea. Been excited about the start of the season for a while. A lot of talent added in the offseason and as a fan you can't ask for anything more than the GM going out there and making the team competitive.

Impressive first basket for Caldwell-Pope

55-43 Pistons at the half, also winning the rebound battle 24-17.

Drummond almost with a double-double in the 1st half, 10 points 8 rebounds

I feel like the wizards should be buried right vow, pistons just look better.

Guess we'll see just how well the Pistons can hold a lead in the 4th this season. Don't see how it could be any worse than last season.

I sure hope that when Jennings comes back, Will Bynum doesn't see any playing time after the 3rd quarter. Such terrible management of a game for a point guard. A true chucker.

I agree, he's very polarizing, not as bad as he can be, not as good as he can be. He's not a starting player by any means. I really like our starting lineup if you replace Bynum with Jennings.

- Chauncey's presence was felt, hitting threes and protecting the ball in the 4th.

- KCP plays with energy, if he can find a consistent jump shot he'll be solid.

- Rebounding, as expected, is dominant.

- Good to see Monroe play both PF/C and Smith SF/PF.

- Monroe needs to make the AS team.

- Turnovers still a problem. Lots of talent but better chemistry needs to develop. No surprise with new faces everywhere.

Wizards aren't that good of a team at the moment but still plenty of reasons to be excited. Going back to what jrange said, we should have won by more

Not that's dedication, updating a Pistons thread. Props to you Grandy.

The only reason to get excited about Monroe's performance is his trade value. I'm 75% sure he gets dealt this season. Rudy Gay is on the market and Detroit needs a true SF who can spread the floor. I expect these two teams to come together.. Detroit offering a good young PF in Monroe who Toronto can extent, and the expiring deal of Stuckey to take on Rudy Gay.. but only if Gay is willing to extend.

Are the Pistons better off with what they have vs. trading for Gay? What kind of contract does he have / will he want?

Don't be so sure. Bigs as good as Monroe don't grow on trees.

I think Monroe is probably gone as well. They don't want to give him max money, and it seems like that's what he would ask for. The fact that they haven't extended him yet is pretty telling. Josh Smith is a very good player, and would fill Monroe's role very nicely alongside Drummond in the middle (we don't need three starting power forwards/centers). If we can get some good pieces for Monroe, then the team will be better.

I think question is will Monroe end the year as a top 10 PF? I think he has a chance. Trading a top 10 player for "pieces" doesn't make sense in the NBA. If they trade him they need to get an equal player at SF or SG.

Yea I agree with you, someone like Rudy Gay as another poster mentioned would be nice. I was just being vague when I said "pieces." The point is, while Monroe is certainly a tremendous player at his position, the Pistons are pretty stacked there right now, and they need to improve elsewhere.

Monroe could end up being the best of the 3 though. I really like our big team. Negotiate with Monroe, give him the max if need be. We already have Jennings and KCP, who could end up being good, and is certainly athletic enough to end up fitting well.

Winners pay their good drafted players, not trade them away for a position that isn't as despitute as you think. Chauncey can be a serviceable or better PG until KCP or a future drafted player is ready to step in with Jennings, Smith, Drummond, and Moose.
