Thoughts on 2018-2019

?Always the bridesmaid, never the bride...?

1989, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2005, 2013, 2014. Six of the 56 national championships Michigan has won. (Basketball, Hockey, Football, Hockey, Softball, Gymnastics, Gymnastics)

A team can?t win a championship without getting to the championship round.

Obviously, once the team has gotten to the championship round, there?s a chance that team will not win.

I would rather see the teams I root for in as many championship rounds as I can.

Also I choose to view Michigan as the de facto national champion of basketball in 2013.

Yeah, that's the crux of the matter. I don't think basketball is clean by any means, but football is just excessive... the giant stadiums & practice facilities are a boon to local construction & all the corrupt dealings that come with it.

and the size of the coaching staffs, and how much money they all make are way out of wack as well. With few exceptios, these guys are all basically glorified Phys Ed teachers, and personal trainers, yet they're given way more responsibility & power (and money) than they are capable of handling.

I'm thinking of that clown we had on staff as an analyst, who got fired after it came out all he did was booze all day. He got arrested after wrecking his car, and was in the news last year. He was making $250K/year or something like that to do what? watch football videos and report on it? fucking ridiculous

This is not Bo Schembechler's college football, or Michigan. Or even Lloyd Carr's... this is a ravenous beast!

SEC doing SEC things. The NCAA will do its thing, which is absolutely nothing.

An LSU booster named John Paul Funes, who pleaded guilty to stealing more than a half-million dollars from a foundation where he worked as a fundraiser, paid $180,000 to a man that Yahoo Sports confirmed on Friday is the father of former Tigers star lineman Vadal Alexander.

In federal documents, a man identified as ?individual C? allegedly received ?approximately $180,000 in Foundation Funds? from Funes. That man is James Alexander, the father of Vadal Alexander. His identity was first reported Thursday by the Baton Rouge Business Report.

To me, sports are just entertainment. I don't really care about the money generated by football or basketball. All I care about is sitting down on my couch on a Saturday and being entertained. College football still entertains me. Basketball, not so much. College baseball and any other minor sport...I have zero interest.

I would only watch college baseball and other minor sports when it?s Michigan.

Michigan?s run to the championship final in baseball this season was a lot of fun to follow.

I?ve never watched a college baseball game that didn?t include Michigan.

More my sentiments for 18-19 as thread indicates but also prob the past 5yrs in general.

We can?t have good things.

I?m still going to watch the games on Saturdays.

I probably won?t ever get so disgusted that I?ll tune out.

I may eventually tine out because I become senile, but probably not because I?m disgusted.

Well, I'm going to watch games as well.

Just saying I won't schedule my weekends around them anymore. Like I'll take my kids to the zoo if they want to go, I won't be like "No, Michigan plays Middle Tennessee State... must see TV."

I'm on the fence about watching another OSU game. I don't know if I can handle that.

You already know the ending so you should be plenty prepared.

Contrary to what many believe, I am an optimist deep down inside, especially when it comes to Michigan football, and humanity... I want to believe the best.

2016 was hard to take. Real hard. Last season was brutal.

But if the NCAA (and the Big Ten commish???) is just going to let some schools consistently bend the rules, pay players, select favorable ref crews, not background check the officials, etc. why should I fucking give a shit what happens on the field?

I don't watch pro wrestling either...

Yeah. I agree with a lot of what you're selling here.

I definitely am not going to take any time off from work to watch the games. I work until 2pm on Saturday, so that means that I'll miss at least 5 starts in real time. I'll dvr the games and then come home and start at the beginning. It'll be great using fast forward through all the 5 minute commercial breaks, 5 minute reviews, half time and all of the other bullshit. I'll probably finish up just a little after the actual game ends.

I'm really tempted to just start recording all games and then waiting 1 hour to start watching them. There's just too much bs that I could just skip.

I'll probably watch a lot of it on mute, too. I did that with the baseball games against Vandy in game 2 and 3. I just couldn't take that noise from those Vanderbilt announcers anymore. I wish I could've skipped all the camera angles of Kumar and his parents.

I love all college sports that Michigan plays in, and sooner or later we will go on a roll and win a bunch of titles in all sports! Hopefully football first ! I agree with just about everything you guys all said good and bad!

Oh Go Blue !

Best stadium!
Best fans!
Best uniforms of all time in all sports!
Best fight song !
Best University of all time!

I get that. My emotional investment in football is slowly dying down as well.

I make jokes about us losing to OSU because why not? Need to be able to laugh at ourselves and we are on a comically terrible run against them.
