Cabrera is woefully underrated in Detroit. Avila and VMart are having tremendous years, but Miggy is the foundation of the line-up that allow the other parts to work. The way pitchers try to attack batters is affected by Miggy looming in the middle. He's not just a slugger. He makes pitchers work. His eye at the plate is impeccable. His on-base percentage dwarfs everyone else's. He is the complete package and he plays every day because the offense would flounder without him.
It's too bad his English is poor and he doesn't have more of a presence in interviews because he is one of the most talented, consistent and accomplished athletes to ever play in Detroit and he gets about half the adoration he deserves.
