It seems like they don't really have a well laid out plan. I would think this would have been established before spring training even started.

It's just getting started so we could probably say that about most every team.

I would think that the manager and coaching staff would already have a plan as to how they are going to call pitches in games. That isn't something that you figure out on the fly.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers have played app. 1 weeks? worth of spring training games. And so far, they have won 1 more game than they?ve lost. However, they?ve given up 7 more runs than they?ve scored so far this season.

But is the win-loss record the purpose of spring training? Or is it to explore players? talent and see where the pieces fit best?

There are pitchers returning from injury and surgery. And almost all positional slots are wide open. There are a number of prospects who are trying out for each of them.

But what is most important to this team? Is it seeing how many games they can win? Or is it observing, testing and guiding the potential talent for this year and the near future?

Today?s blog addresses this dilemma and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

For this one blog only, you?ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts.
Of course, you can respond to as many other readers as you want.

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.

Ready?

What is the most important purpose of spring training for the Tigers?

1. To win as many games as possible.

2. To observe, field test and develop the best players for now and the near future.
