Players are reporting to Lakeland as the 2023 spring training season starts. Very soon, exhibition games will be played.

The Tigers have invited over 60 players. The vast majority of positional slots are expected to be won, not given. For each of those spots, 5-9 players will be competing.

I voted yawn. Players can have really shitty springs and still have a good year or vice versa. IMO by inviting so many players to spring...it seems that they are throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. If AA went with this approach this season, people would be ripping him apart.

Most all of the new players are here to see who controls the strike zone from Hitting and Pitching.

Miguel Cabrera: "I look forward to enjoying this season and trying to help young guys, and trying to help our team to win more games. That's my focus this year. I don't want any distractions. I don't want any videos or any stuff.
I want to do my job. That's it."
