Tigers 2023 Spring Training Thread

His playing days are over. I wish he would go be himself somewhere else.
We're not better without him. It's not like we have a DH in the waiting that can mash. Or even put up Miggy numbers. Or we'd sign someone with the extra cash.

they would absolutely be better without him. Make Kerry Carpenter the DH.
No, our DH needs be someone who absolutely can't play anywhere else. He can play the OF. Move him to DH and then we put a shitty OF who can't even put up Miggy numbers.

that's exactly what you don't want. Miggy is the only player in the entire system that can't play in the field. Put Carpenter at DH most of the time but also in the field. The player that replaces Miggy could be a part time IF or OF who can also DH. It gives AJ more flexibility.

BTW...just about anybody in the system can put up Miggy numbers...that's a really low bar

Everyone in the system? Half the team last season didn't hit anyone better than him.

Okay but why keep Schoop? He bothered me more than any player last season.

Schoop was terrible at the plate last year but one of the best defensive 2B in MLB. With his relative low salary and a plus defensive player, he is worth keeping with the hope that he hits better this year and may get a return at the trade deadline. He' young enough that it wouldn't be a surprise if he regressed toward his career average offensive numbers.

The thing is though weather they had an extra 8m or 30m is not like they're going to spend it. Given that he hadn't yet.
