Tigers 2023 Spring Training Thread

Tigers announce they?re moving weeknight games from 7:10 to 6:40pm, something they?ve done the last couple years for April and September games but will do in summer this year as well.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

This off-season for us Tigers fans has been one of feast and famine. First, the dismantling of the Avila Front Office that was long overdue and the hiring of actual in-demand talent from top organizations to run the team.

But then the off-season turned into one of quiet, low key moves. Presumably because this roster needs to be revamped in a major way.

So how should we approach this season, starting with spring training?

I don?t think it?s as bad as many fans think. I liken what is going on behind the scenes as a new mystery novel that is just getting started. We don?t know a whole lot yet but it appears that it could be promising. That is, once we get through the introduction of the major players and plot.

Quite frankly, I?m looking forward to spring training. A lot of mysteries will be solved then.

And I?ve got my top 5 plot lines that I will be following.

The Tigers have claimed left-hander Tyler Holton off waivers from the Diamondbacks. Casey Mize moved to the 60-day injured list.

Holton, 26, had a 4.43 ERA with 17 walks and 43 strikeouts in 44.2 innings for Triple-A Reno last season. He made 10 MLB appearances for the D-backs.
