yes, but not on the superstar type player. The Tigers don't have enough revenue to pay "superstar" contracts. So do you want them to spend or not?

Holding on to aging vets too long got us to that point. That's what Mike Ilich did, which got them into the situation they have been in over the past 10 years.
sounds like it is $25M for the first year with a player opt out after the first year. If he starts at least 15 games, he gets $20M in year 2.
Essentially, if he pitches really good, it will be a one year deal. If he is mediocre or bad but still has 15 starts, it's a 2 year, $45M deal. If he has a terrible injury, he gets $35M
What do you consider a superstar player? Outside Miggy who is the last SS player that we signed? Verlander? SS players won't come here. So no worries about that.yes, but not on the superstar type player. The Tigers don't have enough revenue to pay "superstar" contracts.
With the way his contract is written, that is probably the best case scenario. It would mean he had a really good/great year and didn't get injured. If Jack Flaherty has a good season and exercises his opt out, the Tigers can give him a Qualifying Offer and will receive a draft pick if Flaherty rejects it.
Less than 10 years ago we had the 2nd highest payroll and 5 of the 50 highest paid players. Lose me with that nonsense. What do you consider a superstar player? Outside Miggy who is the last SS player that we signed? Verlander? SS players won't come here. So no worries about that.
And how many those top guys were free agents? Trades, sure - players that were already here - sure. One day you'll realize the top players don't come here. I'll wait for your list.Less than 10 years ago we had the 2nd highest payroll and 5 of the 50 highest paid players. Lose me with that nonsense.
They got something for a guy they just DFA. That's a win eh? .This is bad news. The Tigers made a trade with the Rays.
Faedo is sure to have a stellar career going forward
Rays acquire RHP Alex Faedo from Tigers
Right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo has joined the Tampa Bay Rays from Detroit with the Tigers acquiring minor league catcher Enderson Delgado and cash in the deal.www.espn.com
I was just joking because every time the Tigers trade with the Rays, it ends in disaster! If the Rays want your player, you might want to take a second look at him!!They got something for a guy they just DFA. That's a win eh? .
Just off the top of my head.....Prince Fielder, VMart, Justin Upton, torii HunterAnd how many those top guys were free agents? Trades, sure - players that were already here - sure. One day you'll realize the top players don't come here. I'll wait for your list.
That's a long time ago when the old man was still here. Btw, outside of Fielder I'm not sure any of those were SS. But I guess we all have a different def. of superstar. And it goes to the criteria we were already aware of, overpay.Just off the top of my head.....Prince Fielder, VMart, Justin Upton, torii Hunter
I know you were. But this is the year that Fink beats the stomach.I was just joking because every time the Tigers trade with the Rays, it ends in disaster! If the Rays want your player, you might want to take a second look at him!!
