The reunion between Pete Alonso and the Mets have now happened and it was expected to ignite the rest of the free agent market just days before spring training begins.
Alsono goes back to NY on a short-term deal. But instead of this inspiring Scott Boras and his client, Alex Bregman, to now sign, they have doubled-down on their demands.
Some of the most reputable national writers are reporting that Bregman refuses to take a short-term deal and is still looking for a 6-7 year contract. He will be 31 years old next month and when that contract ends, he’ll be 37-38 years old.

We are hearing rumors that there is a big sporting event today. Some of you may even be watching it. Others just using it as an excuse to eat and drink with abandon. You know who you are.
We at Totally Tigers understand this. We may not agree with your choice of priorities today but nevertheless, a day without baseball is a day without sunshine. Which is why we’re providing your quick fix before you plunk down on the sofa for hours.

You know about the battle for Alex Bregman that has consumed the last 3+ months and threatens to spill over into spring training. Multiple teams have been involved in negotiations, including the Tigers.
However no one has bitten at what agent Scott Boras wants. We’re reading reports that they are still fixated on a 6-7 year contract for a player who will be 31 years old in March.
