SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

As the Houston Astros manager, A. J. Hinch used a variety of relievers with games on the line, refusing to name a closer. He kept the same practice last year in his first year as the Tigers? manager.

But at the start of this season, he named Gregory Soto as the official ?closer.?

But now, Soto has recently blown 2 appearances that have cost the Tigers games.

Is this simply a case of a rough patch? Or is this simply not a good match?

Should the Tigers continue to have an official closer or should they return to matching a reliever to the situation at hand?

Who should the Tigers use in a high-leverage situation?

1. An official closer.

2. Match the best reliever to the situation.

I mean we have drafted pretty high since 2015 or 16. Where are all the Tigers draft hitting prospects? Do we even have that many outside 3 or 4 players ? Maybe five. We have to do better at picking players. I keep hearing how good the tigers farm system is. Where are these players ?

they are in the farm system. That is why people are saying that the farm system is better now. It's not like basketball and football where players get drafted and play right away.

Almost thankful I don?t have Bally Sports Detroit because this team is absolutely unwatchable from the sounds of it. Just saw that there are 6 teams with 30+ homers and the Tigers have a whopping 11 as a team. You can?t even make that up.

I have come around and now regard OPS as the best indicator of value for a hitter. Pretty much the same guys that you have on your list.

OPS over .800

Clemens
Robson
Kreidler

Seawolves

Myers
Dingler
Lipcius

Whitecaps

Perez

the offense is terrible. It has to get better because it can't get worse.

Schoop and Baddoo are the biggest culprits.

On the pitching front...their "big signing" has also been bad through his first 5 starts. 5.33 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP

Who the fuck is the hitting coach and why am I not hearing him being blasted. People shit all over Lloyd and I down remember the offense ever being this pathetic.

Because the expectations are super low and the number of people watched has waned quite a bit

I think it's because most people are in love with AJ and his staff...they don't want to bash them like they did previous managers.

The Tigers very briefly held the lead tonight, which hasn't happened very often lately.

The Tigers are 2-9 in their last 11 games.

They've had the lead for just 7 1/2 innings during that 99-inning span.
