Civale. He is horrible. Nice team Avila you worthless gm. Tigers just can't catch a break.

Hope it's a bone contusion. Then a shitty hitter gets a double.

Ts leaves game after being drilled by a line drive off the leg below the knee on the shin. Cleveland 4 batters in the 6th up 4-0..

Final line for Tigers LHP Tarik Skubal: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. 66 pitches, 49 strikes.

Run support: 0.

Skubal exited after taking a comebacker off the leg. He has a 2.22 ERA this season.

I was telling a friend earlier during cigar night that Skubal was the only Tiger's Starter in the rotation from the beginning of the year and now this...

The Baseball Gods must be Bullshit at Ilitch for keeping Avila as the GM.

Tigers 1 - Guardians 6: Can the bat boy pitch?
The injury bug keeps biting as Skubal exited the game early.

Another Tigers' starter down, another loss; Skubal drilled in leg by liner in 5th.
Detnews

He was drilled in the lower part of his left leg with a line drive struck with an exit velocity of 104 mph by left fielder Ernie Clement. The third out of the fifth inning was made off the carom and when Skubal finally got back to the dugout, he signaled to acting manager George Lombard that he was done.

It?s been a ruinous run of bad fortune for the Tigers, and most of it centered on the starting rotation. If Skubal has to be shut down, he will join starters Eduardo Rodriguez (expected to go on the IL Sunday with soreness in his left side), Michael Pineda (finger), Matt Manning (shoulder), Tyler Alexander (elbow) and Casey Mize (elbow).
Spencer Turnbull, remember, has been out all year recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Looks like the liner was off his shin. Hope it isn't a hairline fracture.

Guardians get big hits from Jos? Ram?rez, strong start by Aaron Civale in 6-1 win against Detroit Tigers.
Mlive

Civale, who allowed six earned runs in three of his last four starts, was brilliant through six innings, surrendering three hits and striking out three with one walk to earn his second victory. Civale is unbeaten (7-0) in eight career starts against Detroit with a 2.10 ERA in 55 2/3 innings.

Tigers manage three hits off a junk baller with a 9.85 era before tonight?s game
I?m leaving town for a few days and won?t be thinking about the tigers at all

Next 15 games all against Minnesota and Cleveland. I feel a 4-11 stretch coming sadly.

The team has drafted to many pitchers over the years. I?m all for picking a pitcher but the tigers do it to many times over the years. It has not worked that great since Verlander. I tired of Tiger scouting missing. Something has to give. This team isn?t even close to contending.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

Who ever imagined that the 2022 season for the Detroit Tigers would evolve this way?
Last year showed bits of promise with the team playing above .500 for over the last half of the year. That, with very few new roster additions.

But currently, the Tigers are the worst team in the AL with a .342 winning percentage (through Thursday). They rank 3rd worst in all of MLB.

What was the biggest surprise ? or shock ? for you?

Was it the addition of 5 new starting players that Chris Ilitch paid $243 million to sign? That amounts to an extra $53 million for this year alone, not including the extra millions given out for arbitration.

Is it the complete lack of offense in which the team only has 2 regular players (not on the IL) who are hitting safely above .200? The team remains ranked at #29 in offense for all of MLB.

Or is it the unbelievable number of injuries? With the addition of 2 new members to the IL, the Tigers have a staggering 16 players who have been on the IL this year. Thirteen of them remain, including 5 starting pitchers and 4 regular lineup players. Eight of the entire list have been on the IL for 30 days or more.

What has been the biggest shocker for you about the Tigers' 2022 season so far?

1. Lots of signings/$243 million added to salary.

2. Disappearance of offense.

3. Huge # of players on the IL.

A recent MRI performed on Tigers lefty Eduardo Rodriguez didn?t reveal any major damage to his oblique or intercostal muscles, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic writes.
On the one hand, that?s good news, but on the other, it leaves some mystery as to what is ailing the southpaw. Rodriguez left his start against the Rays this week in the first inning, having allowed six of the seven batters he faced to reach base. His fastball velocity was noticeably down, sitting at just 89.8 mph after averaging a bit better than 92 mph through his first seven outings. He?s likely IL-bound, and it seems the Tigers will continue to evaluate him as they search for the root of the issue.

As if the Tigers? injury woes weren?t bad enough ? Rodriguez is likely IL-bound, where he?ll join Casey Mize, Matt Manning, Tyler Alexander, Michael Pineda and Spencer Turnbull.
Breakout starter Tarik Skubal exited tonight?s game after taking a 100.4 mph comeback liner off his leg at the end of the fifth inning. The 25-year-old Skubal blanked Cleveland over five frames prior to exiting, dropping his ERA to 2.22 through 42 2/3 frames. He?s fanned 28.4% of his opponents against just a 4.5% walk rate on the season. The Tigers announced that Skubal has been initially diagnosed with only a contusion, but MLB.com?s Jason Beck tweets that he?ll undergo additional testing tomorrow. Skubal tells reporters that he?s optimistic of making his next start, but there?s enough swelling that doctors have yet to perform imaging (hence the additional evaluation tomorrow).
