RAPID FIRE.

With the World Series now over, baseball moves into the off-season. The Hot Stove season. But how hot will it truly be?
Will the pandemic alter how teams prepare for the coming year?
The Tigers have gotten things going with the hiring of a new manager and coaches. Let?s see what they bring to the table over the next 3 months.
Today, our two bloggers, Holly and Kurt, are digging into 5 post-season-related questions. The challenge? They have a maximum of 2 sentences each to explain their positions.
Let?s get started?.

1. What do you see as being the biggest concern for the team given the current pandemic?

2. Do the Tigers gain any advantage during this pandemic time?

3. What do you see as A.J. Hinch?s biggest impact on the team during the off-season?

4. Outside of the Tigers? personnel/player moves and the issues created by the pandemic, are there other stories in baseball that you feel will impact the game, and the Tigers, this year?

5. How do you expect the Hot Stove season to play out for the Tigers?

THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers readers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic. So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our passionate readers.
Today, we center the discussion on A. J. Hinch?s coaching hires.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

For the first time since Jim Leyland?s introduction as the Tigers? manager back in 2006, newest skipper A. J. Hinch was able to hire his own coaching staff.

He kept Josh Paul, former bench coach for the Angels, who had only been with the team for this shortened 2020 season (2 months). He also extended Ramon Santiago, who earned high marks from the experts for his coaching ability and player rapport.

Hinch added former Dodger, George Lombard, former Nationals bench coach, Chip Hale, former White Sox coach, Scott Coolbaugh and U-M pitching coach, Chris Fetter. They replaced long-time Tigers coaches, Lloyd McClendon and Dave Clark, along with Ron Gardenhire?s ride-or-die buddies Rick Anderson and Joe Vavra.

How do you feel about all these men who will be leading and coaching the players?
1. Thrilled
2. Promising
3. Mixed
4. Too soon to tell
5. Disappointed
6. Not sure

Truth Tigers are at square one. Last 3 years with RG a pure waist. In fact rebuild might be another 3 years. And with the bad brad years could make the 10 year turn around that some thought it might take. And with the rebuilds in Minnie and sox land. Too little too late. Too soon to tell

STRAIGHT TALK.
Totally Tigers

Welcome to Straight Talk – where Holly and Kurt must respond to one single statement.
They will pick one side – yes or no, without straddling both sides. And they promise to do it in no more than 10 sentences to support their answer.
As always, they have not shared their answers prior to publication in order to determine if they both see the same thing – or if there are other viewpoints to consider.
At the end, we want to tally your position as well. And to do that, we have included a survey where you can answer yes or no in response to today’s Straight Talk statement.
This is a tough assignment for readers because it is so difficult to commit to one side, but we have faith you can handle it.
Keep in mind, you are not choosing one of our writers’ positions; you are sharing your own based on the statement – and you can only pick one, don’t straddle both sides!
So, here we go!

Fans have reason to be enthusiastic knowing our young talent will continue to be developed at the major league level.
