Tigers hit 6 HR and lose

Considering who starting pitched that game for the Tigers, color me unsurprised @ the outcome.

Although this game was played prior to "Gumtime" becoming a massive failure immediately after being signed to that albatross of a 21M, 3 year extension of his contract, of which after the first (and should have been last) full season as a Tigers SP in '08, Robber-tson managed to reward the club for giving him the deal by finishing dead last amongst all SPs with 160 or more IPs in MLB, with a bloated 6.38 era and the highest total of earned runs given up with 119.

Both Robertson and Willis share much of the blame for the Tigers winding up in last place in the ALCD, and it was too bad that both were given 2 year extensions prior to the start of the '08 season, b/c by the ASB, it would already have become blatantly obvious that neither earned nor deserved a spot in the Tigers rotation.

Hindsight is going to be 20/20 here. Robertson was arbitration eligible and had 4 decent (not great) seasons. So, DD, who has never gone to arbitration with a player, signed him to an extension covering the last 2 years of arbitration and the 1st year of FA.

I always saw Nate as a 5IP, 5th starter...and then he went downhill
