Tigers Hot Stove 2012

I agree with you guys. I'd love to see Castellanos stay with us. He'd be the one out of the big minor leaguers that'd sting the most to lose, IMO. I might even value Rondon over Turner too, even though Turner is the bigger prospect. I know that sounds a little out there, but guys that can throw 102mph aren't exactly falling out of trees (unless that's Joel Zumaya's latest injury). Turner is likely to be a good major leaguer, but I haven't seen anything otherworldly about his skill set. He just seems like a guy who can do several things very well.

Rodon looks a lot like Valverde...he looks a little chubby for a 21 year old

What's he suppose to say? "Our farm is shit, we have no one worthy"?

Well people complain so much about our farm, would they be happy if we became the Royals or Astros for 8 years or so and sold off our top guys or let them walk in FA to get compensation picks to restock the farm?

People always ask why we don't have a farm system like Oakland, or KC, or Baltimore....the answer is WE DID! Then we called them up and got good, and now get lower draft priorities plus getting free agents costs us first round picks.

Just all rumors. I hope we add a player like Fister. Not just a pitcher but someone young, under control for awhile and not having to give up too much.

Problems with trade rumors is that they're just rumors, most GM's hold their cards pretty close.

Sportswriters go by the obvious, what holes a team has and who would be available to fill them.

Nobody had any idea in 2006 we were going to get Sean Casey, sometimes I think it's more a couple of GM's spitballing ideas rather then targeting an actual player and hammering out a deal, like with Fister.

I'd like to get someone, but not at the expense of our top prospects, or anyone who is a rental.

This is pretty accurate. The rumors you hear are most likely outdated or were just "Hey dude, what's the price on _____" then that's the end of it.

Last year DD had been working on Fister for like a month before he landed him, but you didn't hear much about it until right before it happened. He's done it before, and I'm sure he will do it again with a "surprise" trade.

I agree for the most part, but some of these guys do have legit sources on their stories. It isn't all just slinging shit at the wall, although there's tons of that too.

Interesting. It almost looks like they're trying to fast track him to the big league club.

Agreed. They went from saying, "he's a 3B and a couple years away" to saying, "we are gonna give him a look in the OF" pretty quickly. He certainly couldn't be any worse than Boesch, so why the hell not give it a try?

The big club should make sure he has a 16 oz. steak and a big baked potato for dinner everyday. Hang some beef on that frame and watch his power numbers go up.

Upton sure is shitting the bed this season. Kind of like his 2009-10 season. He hits well in '09 and had a big fall out in '10. His numbers this season stink in comparison with '11. So which one do you get, if someone trades for him?
