Get StartedI think this has got to be about the most appealing option for a hitter right now. Upton is young, locked up (unlike Quentin), and is a pretty good defender in a position of need. If we could get him without giving up Castellanos, that'd be ideal. Not sure what he'd cost, but maybe something like Turner, Below, and Boesch could get the ball rolling there.
Since they are looking for a 3B I would bet that it would start with Castellanos.

Too bad we didn't still have Inge. The deal could have started with him

I never in a million years....thought I would read the words "Too bad we didn't still have Inge" on a Tigers message board.
It ranks right up with "Too bad we don't still have Neifi Perez", and "Too bad we don't still have Jose Mesa".
The one problem that could happen and I normally don't mind trading any prospect for talent, and a few have mentioned it, can the Tigers afford another big contract to go along with JV, Miguel and Prince?
Upton's last two years are over 14m.
As long as Ilitch is in charge and without a ring, I don't think there will be a hard payroll ceiling. If they can help him get his ring and the only barrier is money, he'll write the check. The payroll is a serious concern. Jackson will need a raise and possibly Avila, Boesch, and Fister. Though Delmon and Peralta should go they make lots of money.

The Tigers are prioritizing offense over starting pitching...
I for one would like to see Castellanos make it through our system to the parent club... But oh the World series trophy seems so elusive even for a team with Prince, Miguel, and Verlander...
