Tigers - a's Game Preview.

Verlander to start Game 1, Andy Dirks and Quintin Berry named corner outfielders.
DETROIT -- About an hour after the Tigers revealed their ALDS roster, they threw out their lineup for Game 1 against Oakland.
And, there's no real surprise to it.
As expected, Quintin Berry and Andy Dirks get the outfield nods tonight, starting in left and right field, respectively. Berry will bat second and Dirks will hit sixth behind designated hitter Delmon Young.
The decision to start Berry with a right-hander on the mound was made easier after the Tigers left a struggling Brennan Boesch off the 25-man roster.
First pitch is set for 6:07 p.m. and the game will be televised on TBS.
Infielders Ramon Santiago and Danny Worth will be available off the bench, as will outfielders Avisail Garcia and Don Kelly. Gerald Laird will back up catcher Alex Avila, who is batting eighth tonight.
Justin Verlander, who had two playoff starts cut short by rain last year, will make the Game 1 start for the Tigers. Rain fell at Comerica Park intermittently Friday, but the forecast for Saturday appears clear.
The A's will counter with right-hander Jarrod Parker, who has been red-hot down the stretch, going 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA in September and October.

A year after being a journeyman minor-league free agent, Quintin Berry is batting in front of Miguel Cabrera in a playoff game. Pretty cool story.
