Tigers vs. a's Game Thread September 16

Someone updated the Tigers Wikipedia page less then 10 mins after the last out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Tigers

How was the '72 season not ranked in that Wiki article as one of the best seasons in Tigers' history? I am not a Wiki editor, but the article should list the top 20 seasons, not just 17, IMO. Don't completely agree with the seasonal rankings of the list either.

I would rank the '72 season just below the #15 1940 season, and of course this season hopefully will need to be included, depending on how the team fares in the coming postseason.

ESPN still has boston as the main page thing, doesnt even mention the tigers yet.

fuck espn.

espn blows dead goats and redsoxdicks.

mlbnetwork had great coverage of everything on the Tigers win and clinching the Central for about an hour.

Wow, you're right, not one single link to or mention of the Tigers' division-clinching win on the ESPN homepage...maybe their editors already went beddy-bye tonight beforehand.

Boston should be the front.

They are a much bigger story, and not because it's Boston, but because the Tigers game was nothing but a formality while the Sox/Rays game is an actual race with something on the line.

No, a divsioin title even know it was coming is well worth the top story.

NO. mlbnetwork got it right. They had near an hour of all Tigers.

Probably going to this one. I work in the South Bay and it's not too far a drive up to BART which will take me right there. Just need to score a decent ticket on the walk up, last time I did that I was like 3 rows back from the netting behind home for $40.

Newton, I hope you see the Tigers clinch up close and personal.
The a's don't appear to fill the stadium, so maybe you can move to a closer seat to the Tigers dugout, if it is a better one than where you are planning to purchase one.

There were a lot more people there than I expected. I didn't get quite the seats I wanted, but it was nice to be right behind the Tiger's bullpen and able to see into the dugout and see what the boys were up to. Great game and great fireworks to celebrate (coincidentally). Thanks Oakland!

All I have to say is...all those years on the ESPN boards and no division championships. Less than a year on this board, we've got one. :) Let's here it for ProBoards mojo!!!
