Tigers vs. astros 7-31-16 Game 105

Man just can't believe we took all six from Boston and Houston after dumping those last two in Chicago and 2 of 3 to the twins. Baseball is sure a weried funny game.

Hit Springer, not Altuve, not that it matters a whole lot.

Free curly fries for local Tigers fans for the second time this series

And 40% off pizza with the Grand slam. In the same game Choices, choices what to choose.

Back to back sweeps against 2 good teams. Didn't expect an 11-0 shut out in our favor on a Pelfrey start. 11 runs is the largest margin of defeat for the Astros this year.

Miguel Cabrera hits career home run No. 430, breaking a tie with Adrian Beltre for 47th in MLB history,
Miguel Cabrera hits career home run No. 431, tying him with Cal Ripken Jr. for 46th in MLB history,
Miguel Cabrera now has 37 multi-homer games in his career and four this season (last, 5/23 vs. Philadelphia).

Tigers blast the astros 10 - 0,
Pelfrey 5 innings 4 K's and the Win,
Wilson Rondon Ryan Lowe 4 innings 3 hits 3 K's,
McCann with a GrandSlam, Miggy 2 Bombs, Upton Bomb,
TigersVictoryCigar.

Still not wanting to get too excited, seems like every time I start to its dagger time again, very nice back to back sweeps of good teams though can't be disappointed with that. Really only bad news all weekend is that Cleveland keeps winning also.

It really shows just how unbalanced this team is. Look at how well they did today with the bottom doing a little4 for 13 with two homers and 7 of the RBI. From the lower 4 hitters. McCann hit 3 of his 8 homers in the last 4 games, to go along with a five game hitting streak.

Tough decisions will need to be made soon with Norris, Zimmerman JD etc all potentially coming back soon, Collins deserves to stay, boyd hasn't been horrible maybe Norris stays on the farm..Sanchez hasn't been good enoug still imo..(and he's scheduled to start Tuesday)...aviles and lettuce have such week bats I'd seriously have to still consider upgrades thier somehow someway yet.

Not sure what They should do . Can we get rid of lettuce and aviles or is thier ability to play multiple positions going to keep them on the team? Boyd over Norris is a tough one. With all the darn money tied up in lowe and Sanchez is a problem . Collins does deserve to stay . He hits lefty. We need that .

Team is much better if McCann hits and that Is the truth that we all know. We need him badly .

Webvideo Highlights of the Tigers 11 - 0 win over the astros.

Mike Pelfrey (seriously): Went five innings and gave up zero (!!) runs on four hits, striking out four. Brad Ausmus for taking Pelfrey out of the game when he did, too. Typically he?s let the righty stay in too long and it?s come back to bite him, but he opted on the side of caution, and rightfully so.

James McCann: Still smashing left-handed pitching, he drove a 1-1 cutter into the visiting bullpen for a grand slam.

Miguel Cabrera: He knocked in the first run of the game on an RBI single in the first. Then, in the fifth, blasted an opposite field home run halfway up the right field seats. Aaand he homered to left-center in the seventh. Miggy finished 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Justin Upton: Homered and finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

STATS AND INFO:
James McCann?s grand slam in the first inning marked the first one of his career, also giving him a career-high four RBI in a game.

Miguel Cabrera?s home run was his 22nd of the season, and No. 430 for his career. That moves him past Adrian Beltre to take over No. 47 in MLB history.

Cabrera?s second home run was career No. 431 and tied him with Cal Ripken, Jr. for No. 46 in MLB history, to tell you how his day went.
It also marked the 37th multi-homer game of his career and his fourth this season. His last was on May 23 vs. the Phillies.

McCann?s and Cabrera?s offensive contributions accounted for eight of the 11 runs by the Tigers? offense.

The Tigers are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are nine games over .500.

They?ve won their last six straight games.

Tigers played the Cubs in the 1907, 1908, 1935, and 1945 WS, '08 being the last time that the Cubs won, (107 years ago) and '45 being the last time that the Cubs played in a Fall Classic.

I am not anywhere near as confident in the Tigers' chances of playing in the WS this year, as I have been during the recent past, but it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility...or as yet anyway.

Had the Tigers beaten the Twins in the '87 ALCS, then they would have faced the Cards for the 3rd time in a WS. Likewise for a 4th time in '11 vs the Rangers and in '13 had they beaten the Red Sox for the AL Pennants...aahaha!!

Tigers teams have played the Cubs and Cards the most often in WS history, and it would be "almost" as oddly karmic to play the Cubs franchise for the 5th time, as it would be for the Indians, who own the AL's longest stretch of WS championship futility @ 67 years.

Fucking A...ngels.

or more specifically, Huston Street.

Can't believe Angels fucking blew that game! You suck Street! I stopped checking when it was still a shutout through 8 innings and what seemed like a comfortable enough lead in a low scoring game. The Sox pulled a Tigers on them and left us out of the second wild card slot...for now. Still have hope we catch the Indians. That team has no experience winning and will choke it away before September.

Pelfrey apparently was often hitting 93-94 on the gun, so he not only pitched his heart out...but his back as well.

And it almost happened in 84 also Cubs were up 3 games to one then blew it to Padres. Lol ...for entertainment thought purposes only how bout they go through and beat all the teams that have given us all the recent years truma..Baltimore, Texas, Boston, San Francisco, that would be flippin awesome. But it's just a pipe dream

Rangers have jackshit in their WS champ trophy case, I have hated the Os since the 70s, the Giants and the Cards utterly humiliated the Tigers in the '06 & '12 WS, the Red Sox exposed the Tigers BP in the '13 ALCS, so it is possible that the Tigers could potentially get some revenge this postseason vs as many as 4 of them.

I have always envied the mid-market NL Cardinals, b/c they have rarely been worse than mediocre in their storied history, but not nearly as much their city of StL, b/c their 50 yr old NHL franchise has never won a Stanley Cup, their former NFL Cardinals franchise was even more inept than the Lions, before it moved to AZ, and there are rumors that the Rams may soon leave as well. The city/state has not had an NBA team, despite even OKC & Utah having one.

I am glad McCann can hit at home and against LHP. Now, if he could only hit at acceptable levels on the road and against RHP I might cut him some slack.
