I disagree. The Tigers record is currently 11th out of 15 in the AL. The Rays are 78-48 already, with a team payroll around $70M. Whoever is the manager of the Rays should get most of the votes. Plus, do you think whoever votes for manager of the year is going to give it to a guy who is coming off suspension for letting his players cheat?

They generally don't give the award to teams that were projected to be where they're at, the Rays. I suspect with Cash getting it last after a WS I doubt he gets it. Not sure who wins, though I don't really care.

The rays gm should win gm of the year, but that team is good and I really think any manager could win with that team. Hinch is leading a team of hot garbage to .500 ball. Also doing it with 4/5 of its starting rotation gone for most of the year.

DET is 2nd in the AL with the fewest games played against teams over .500. A lot of that has to do with their division. They tend to play to the level of the team they are playing, especially outside the Central.

25-38 .397 WPCT vs AL Central

36-28 .563 WPCT vs everyone else

I cannot see how Hinch could be MoY with that divisional record. In a weak division, that is atrocious.
