Tigers vs cardinals game thread June 21st

I think we broke the 0-6 we had in tie games after 8 innings too unless we did it last week...

What's the old saying about sun shine on a dogs ass once in a while. LOL.. huge win today. Offense overall still got their heads up their ass though.

after what we have been through it is nice to see us get a close one run win ... We were on a bad streak of losing these type of tie games.

I think baseball analysts put too much into pitch count. Why can't a guy go 150 pitches in?

Because pitchers get tired and pitch less effective.

It's proven that, for the overwhelming majority of pitchers, it is smarter to take them out of the game at the 100 pitch count mark.

An average bullpen pitcher>>>95% of starting pitchers after 100 pitches.

But if they are still pitching effectively, why take him out because he has 110 pitches?

Look at Texas, Nolan Ryan is doing it right. Stretching them. If you prepare them to throw 120+ pitches they can do it. The reason why pitchers generally can't get more than 100 or so is because they're not used to it.

With Strasberg I can understand, past injury. But last night, Porcello having a nice game, PC is excellent - leave him in. Because when the time comes and he needs to go another inning, he won't be ready.
